197610588New York: Published in the USA by Halsted Press A Division of John Wiley & Sons Inc 1976. First US Edition. Fine/near fine. Royal 8vo. pp. viii 408 frontispiece black cloth w/spine lettered in silver. -- Minor wear to the extremities of the dj. -- Condition. "After an introductory chapter on some essential. mathematics and mechanics the basic equations of the flapping motion of the blade and of rotor aerodynamics are developed. These are then applied to the fundamental problems of calculating blade flapping motion rotor forces performance and stability and control. Later chapters deal with the more complicated aerodynamics of forward flight blade flexibility and aeroelastic coupling. Although it is acknowledged that the solutions of some of the more complicated helicopter problems can be obtained only by means of computers many important results can be obtained analytically without difficult mathematics permitting a fairly simple treatment and leading to 'working formulae'. These formulae make it easier to interpret the dynamic and aerodynamic phenomena physically and the importance of this is kept to the fore throughout the book".-dj.
