Colour pictographic/pictorial map of Asia 23.2 x 30.1 cms gilt double-rule border printed on a folding decorative menu card 32 x 50 cms open highlighted in gilt text in English French and Japanese central fold and later central vertical crease in very good condition. Pan Am menu card for First Class passengers dubbed "The President Special" the deluxe cuisine by fabled Maxim's of Paris "Good food is the basis for true happiness". Passengers were feted with gourmet meals on bone china with silver cutlery. The witty pictorial cover-map of Asia was by French artist and commercial illustrator Jacques Liozu 1910-1974 also known for his larger scale maps. . Pan American World Airways. unknown

Publisher's printed brown wrappers with the front bearing images of a biplane and a monoplane. No copies located by OCLC. A very good copy.There is no information about this publication but likely it was meant to accompany "Les Etapes de l'Aviation:Conférence Faite le 12 Décembre 1909" by Mathieu Varille. The conference was held in Lyon perhaps in anticipation of their 1910 air meet. Many of the much monkeyed with photographs herein are by M. Branger a well known early aviation photographer. First edition of this exceedingly scarce post-World War II modeler’s catalogue for remote control airplanes rubber band driven airplanes small Fleetwind Ohlsson & Rice Herkimer and other model gasoline engines midge racing car models military vehicles and much more. Denny 1891-1967 was a noted film and stage actor who appeared in over 200 dramatic roles and is also considered the father of drone aircraft and radio-controlled model airplanes. Denny landed his first contract in 1939 for his 12-foot span RP-4 and the Navy designated its’ drone TDD-1 for Target Drone Denny. Nearly 15000 Denny drones were produced during World War II and in fact a 19-year old Norma Jean Baker was discovered in the Radio Plane factory while doping drone panels. First edition of this complete flight kit for the 1958 air traveler from PDX issued by Northwest Orient Airlines heading on July 3 1958 to Miami Florida including a Miami FL postcard featuring Flamingos and contemporary cost of $ 271.05 round trip or approximately $ 3000.00 in 2025. The drinks & cocktail menu indicates that the NW Orient Airlines “Imperial Service†served up Scotch Bourbon Canadian Whiskey and Liquers at $ 1.00 a glass while soft drinks were .25¢. Their fleet included Douglas DC-7 Douglas DC-6 and Boeing Stratocruiser prop planes flying their customers to The Philippines Hong Kong Japan India Thailand and French Indo-China Vietnam Hawaii & Alaska. Flights as here were typically broken up with stopovers so the DC-7 with typical flight time could reach Chicago in about 4.5-5 hours and subsequently 3.5-4.5 hours to Miami FL. At the time Northwest Orient Airlines offered the only one-carrier service across the United States and connections to Hawaii Canada Alaska and Asia. First edition of this very rare report on Continental Air Lines efforts in modification of aircraft during World War II. Due to personnel shortages women were trained in large numbers with the Emily Griffith Opportunity School who also received training in sheet metal fabrication welding and metal casting to handle bomber retrofits for over 2500 B-17 and B-29 bombers as well as 25 P-51 Mustang fighters and 6 additional experimental B-29 bombers. The airport facility in Denver erected two 600 x 400 foot hangers and continued hiring skilled labor. Roig requests that The Saltford Flower Shop "Please send plant - incl. $10 - on Mother's Day - with card enclosed." Signed "Harold J Roig". The flower shop's stamp dated April 28th indicates that the order was paid for and there are several pencil markings including "Mother's Day" penciled in capital letters by the store. Near fine.</p><p>The American businessman Harold J. Roig 1886-1972 was Vice Chairman of the W.R. Grace & Co. by the time he retired in 1950. He'd first joined this international industrial company as counsel in 1915 and organized its legal department. A graduate of Cornell and Columbia Law School he was a member of numerous associations and several exchanges. He was a member and secretary of the Government agency that regulated the supplies of Chilean nitrate of soda during WWI and following the war was put in charge of Grace's Chilean nitrate sales. He took part in establishing Grace National Bank. In his role with Grace he was a pioneer in commercial aviation in South America being instrumental in the establishment of Panagra Pan American Grace Airways which flew the first U.S. certified route to Buenos Aires by way of South America's West Coast.</p> Great Neck, New York, April 25, 1955.
