With 70 tipped in original polaroid snap shots color photographs and color postcards each with descriptive typed captions below. Numerous images of Hong Kong. The album opens with a photograph of the airplane: B.O.A.C. jet from San Francisco to Tokyo; many pictures of shrines; Buddha of Kamakura; Fuji - Hakone - Izu National Park; Mt. Fuji; Kyoto; fields of tea; Taipei; Tiger Balm Garden; Victoria Peak; Hong Kong Harbor; and Aberdeen. Japan: 6 commercial 27 Polaroid mostly Kyoto; Taipei: 5 b&w 8 Polaroid; Hong Kong: 18 Polaroid 6 postcards. Housed in a burgundy album with gold trim and label on spine album pages are covered in plastic and bound with a plastic coil photos bound in using photo corners. Images clear and unfaded. hardcover

1534American President Lines. First Edition. Near Fine. Travel poster printed in full color recto only. Measures 23.25 inches x 34.5 inches 59cm x 87cm. Near Fine condition with slight waviness along left edge that would be readily flattened under glass. No tearing no creases but two slight abrasions verso as if tape had been hastily removed not affecting image. Very slight fading to color along the "LSON" of Wilson but only slightly perceptible and that might be a production flaw or design effect as to show variation in the polished brass look of nameplate lettering. The other copy we've seen had a similar condition. Not a reproduction. Original early-60s travel poster promoting travel to Hong Kong one of the Asia ports called at by the S.S. President Wilson a passenger cruise ship of the American President Lines. The American President Lines APL was founded with the US government's acquisition of the faltering Dollar Shipping Line. APL implemented round-the-world passenger service enhancing its fleet in 1946 with the SS President Cleveland and SS President Wilson. The ships were promoted as "your American hotel abroad."<p>Vintage photograph of the SS President Wilson sailing past a sea-going Chinese junk juxtaposes the luxury of modern passenger liner travel with the age-old traditional Chinese sailing craft. Original paper not linen-backed. Ephemera included with the poster includes a passenger manifest for a January 1958 sailing of the SS WIlson from San Francisco to Honolulu Yokohama Manila Hong Kong Kobe and return as well as two menus from the SS President Cleveland August 1959. QUITE SCARCE ! This is an obscure and rarely found complete panoramic view of the great southern city of Canton Guangzhou on four consecutive color postcards. The panorama shows at the top far left printed in red ink: "PANORAMA OF CANTON" followed by "RAILWAY TO FATSHAN" "SHEK-WAI-TONG" "PUN-TONG" " WHITE CLOUD HILL" "FRENCH CATHEDRAL" "SHAMEEN" "RIVER STEAMBOAT WHARF" "FERRY PIERS" "CHAU-TAU-TSUI" "HONAM AND FONG CHUEN." THE COMPLETE RARE SET OF FOUR COLOR POSTCARDS OF CANTON: This is seldom found complete with all four cards connected. Our RARE example is complete as issued. A lovely view of Canton city with two rivers meandering through the city. . This panorama covers the whole city and the rivers with several kinds of shipping. CONDITION: The four attached postcards are in excellent condition with bright color and no fading. There is some of the usual wear in the folds where a small bit of the color is lacking. All of the hinges are solid and restored from the verso back. . unknown

A group of 10 cards with 20 photographs lightly laid down on a black card showing twenty views of old and most famous "TIGER BALM GARDEN" "AW BOON HAW MANSION." . The most famous visitor's site in Hong Kong from 1935 was the celebrated "TIGER BALM GARDEN" also known as the "AW BOON HAW MANSION." It was a three-dimensional sculpture garden showing various Buddhist aspects of life death happiness sadness joy evil and justice. Typical concepts in Chinese Buddhism and Confucianism. THE HISTORY: In 1935 the landscaped garden was built at a cost of HK$16 million. It was one of the most favorite and popular sites in Hong Kong for seventy years. The Garden was demolished for redevelopment in 2004 thus for ever TIGER BALM GARDEN vanished for ever. SUBJECT OF THE PHOTOGRAPHS: This miniature photograph collection shows some twenty hand-colored original photographs of the Garden its lovely pavilion and scenes of Buddhas eight beautiful & very naked women view of the Kwai Fei taking a bath also more nude ladies ! Kan Chin Pavilion two pagodas lakes Buddhist monuments Buddhist heaven & hell panoramic view of the gardens & mansion half-nude mermaid Fat Buddha skinny Ancestral Buddha "Tiger-Balm Tiger" and many others ! . Each photograph has a Chinese and English caption at the bottom margin. Each photograph is 8.4 x 6.4 cm. including the margin. The photo image is 8.1 x 6 cm. PHOTO CONDITION: Each miniature black & white photo was hand-painted and tinted. Each photo is lightly layed down on the black card. The photographs are all in excellent condition no fading or demerits. There is some of the usual rubbing to the black card but this does not affect the photos at all. REFERENCES . unknown
