First editions of these very scarce China Inland Mission periodicals published for supporters and as fundraiser during the 1920s for the noted interdenominational missionary society originally founded by Hudson Taylor in 1865. The 1920s were a period of great unrest famine and ongoing conflicts between various warlords as reflected in these contemporary missionary accounts. The China Inland Mission actively recruited women missionaries who in turn often proselytized to Chinese women to promote Christianity public health measures increased education and more. These issues have a number of letters and first-hand accounts of the ongoing internal battles between the Nationalist forces of Chiang-kai Shek and Mao-tse-tung’s Communists. In addition there are a few special mentions that the “Christian†Chinese are the most resistant to the Communists forces. Of special interest are the inclusion and special centerfold supplements of the Young China magazine which was issued for children in the China Inland Mission and young children in China. Finely engraved and detailed map of two routes to Pekin Beijing along the White River Baihe from the Gulf of Petcheli and along the Imperial Highway from Jehol and includes commentary locating palaces and gardens type of cultivation "many barges" and "the road shaded by willow trees". The map of China and surrounding areas are richly illustrated with little images showing the resources and products of the countries of East Asia together with their road railway sea and air routes which are marked in detail. Inset charts show Chinese trade figures in detail. The reverse side of the map provides summary information on China each region Manchukuo and Outer Mongolia with black and white photographic illustrations. Chinese trade and resource graphs are printed on the corner of the map and include steel petroleum rice pigments and dyes wood products etc; comprehensive information on population Chinese governments and Western investments are included in the reverse side. <br> <br>The map was a supplement of Volume 3 Number 1 issue of the Tonichi Jikyoku Joho Tokyo Nichinichi Shinbun Current Affair and Information in January 1939 which later became Mainichi Jikyoku Joho.
