THE MISSION STATEMENT: "The 11th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held in Beijing from August 12 to 18 1977. The conference was attended by 1510 delegates representing more than 35 million party members nationwide. . To this end the report puts forward eight major tasks of the Party in the current and future period and calls on the Party Central Committee to make strategic decisions to govern the country in the first place in the year with great results within three years. . On behalf of the Central Committee Ye Jianying made a report on amending the Party's Constitution to the General Assembly which explained from eight aspects. The report emphasizes that only by taking Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought as its guiding ideology and theoretical basis can our Party maintain the nature of the proletariat vanguard and points out that the Party Constitution states that "in this century the Party should lead the people of all ethnic groups in building our country into a socialist power in the modernization of agriculture industry national defense and science and technology". .
