In a very good condition. ~ FIRST EDITION. Albert Montefiore Hyamson 1875-1954. English administrator. From 1917 to 1919 he edited the Zionist Review. He served as Chief Immigration Officer in Palestine under the British Mandate returning to England in 1934. He later became president of the Jewish Historical Society of England. He published studies of Palestine and Zionism as well as a history of the Jews of England. Here he claims to have written a book which has no concern with Palestine either as a religious or an archaeological centre but instead deals with the present and the future. The front paste-down bears the lovely contemporary booksellers' ticket of R. Mazin & Co. London "Publishers Booksellers Printers Bookbinders etc." displaying a banner in Hebrew. In the second edition Löwenstein is no longer identified himself as the author. He was the director of the Zionist Information Office for Tourists in Palestine. A fascinating publication published by the Zionist Information Office of the Jewish National Fund and printed in Tel Aviv. Not a traditional traveller's guide to the Holy Places it is an invitation to visit the Zionist community in Palestine. It includes background information for visits in Jerusalem Tel Aviv and its region Haifa Valley of Yisrael Nazareth Afula Beth Shean as well as some newly established villages. The appendix brings a financial report of the Fund's activities. The cover states the publisher's price of 3 Piaster - 60 Pfennig. With interesting appendices about farming in Palestine the scenery of the land the Papal railway the state of Europe and Russia. With detailed General Index and Index of Texts which lists all passages of scripture explained or referred to in the text. A small flower has been dry pressed between two leaves of this copy and is still preserved.
