brossura Le società d'ingegneria italiane, costituite da grandi raggruppamenti di tecnici e ingegneri, hanno incentrato e tuttora incentrano la loro attività sulla costruzione di grossi impianti sia in Italia che all'estero. È evidente che prima di costruire occorre progettare, approvvigionarsi dei materiali e infine erigere gli impianti nelle località previste. La società di ingegneria Petrocom menzionata nel racconto aveva instaurato un rapporto con l'Iraq per costruire impianti in quel paese ricchissimo di petrolio. Purtroppo avere un cliente così instabile politicamente si è rivelata una scelta rischiosa, anche se momentaneamente proficua. Nel racconto vengono descritte certe caratteristiche del cliente iracheno, la situazione del Paese ai tempi di Saddam e infine la sua entrata in guerra con l'Iran, che finì per dissanguare finanziariamente l'Iraq stesso. La conseguenza fu il mancato pagamento alla Petrocom per gli impianti già costruiti, cosa che causò il collasso della società.
