From the year after Israel was created, a fundraising effort to rebuild Hapoel Hamizrachi settlements that were destroyed in the 1948 War in Israel and build new ones to accommodate large amounts of new immigrants, heavily Holocuast refugees, to the country. English with Hebrew translations of biblical quotes, months, and holidays. Hapoel Hamizrachi, the religious labor Zionist movement, is the only organization whose program combines the principles of Torah-true Judaism with the Biblical ideals of social and economic justice (Torah VAvodah) . Each month has a large black-and-white photograph of life in a Hapoel Hamizrachi settlement accompanied by a biblical quote in Hebrew and English as well as a caption in English. Calendars include American and Jewish holidays, candle lighting times, and Torah portions. Some pages include quotes below the calendar from famous Israelis such as Prime Minister Ben Gurion. A pamphlet and a gathering of mimeographed sheets 1940s - 1950s; pamphlet - 8 x 5 1/4; pp. 6; illustrated with photographs; stapled mimeographed sheets - 14 x 8 1/2; pp. 8 text to recto only; minor wear and creasing and light age-toning - in very good condition. The American Palestine Committee was founded in 1932 as a political lobby group with the aim of influencing American policy towards establishing a Jewish national homeland in Palestine. It would later merge with the Christian Council on Palestine to become the American Christian Palestine Committee in 1946. By that time its members numbered over 15 000 many of them prominent American figures. In the 1950s after the successful creation of Israel in 1948 the organization felt its work was done and it ceased to exist. The pamphlet presented its history and goals while the mimeographed document contained a list of films from the organization's lending library which depicted various phases of Israel's birth and growth. ABOUT THE AUTHOR:- Elias Boudinot (1740-1821) was born in Philadelphia, his father was a merchant and silversmith, he was a neighbor and friend of Benjamin Franklin after studying and being tutored at home, Elias Boudinot went to Princeton, New Jersy to read the law as a legal apprentice to Richard Stockton. On May 5, 1777, General George Washington asked Boudinot to be appointed as commissary general for prisoners. Congress through the Board of war concerned. Boudinot was commissioned as a colonel in the continental army for this work .He served until July 1778, when competing responsibilities forced him to resign. In November 1777, the new Jersy Legislature named Boudinot as one of the delegates to the second continental congress. In October 1795, President George Washington appointed him as director of the United States Mint.
