Deaccessioned by the Spruance Library of the Bucks County Historical Society though not marked as such with ghosts of call labels on lower spines of early volumes otherwise showing only slight use with contents a bit thumbed here and there many/most issues apparently unopened. Virtually complete through Vol. 74 2009 4 issues per year missing only the following 9 issues: 52.4 53.1 and 4 58.1 and 2 67.1 70.2 and 3 70.4 thus 287 of 296 issues. Vols. 52 53 58 and 67-74 are not bound still loose. The collection does not extend beyond 2009. A rare opportunity to obtain a near-set otherwise virtually impossible to assemble given that the Berks History Center no longer stocks vintage back issues of its journal. In addition to recipes includes other household tips such as how to take care of your parasol during the winter and how to bleach a straw bonnet. Handwritten recipe on front fixed endpaper for sponge cake from "Mrs. S." The Memoranda pages include two handwritten recipes: "Gertie Rogers fine Ginger Cake" and "Miss Landis Devil Food." Scarce. In Very Good- Condition: edges rubbed; tail of spine starting to fray; cloth is lightly soiled; older solid repair of both hinges; occasional minor stain on pages; otherwise clean and solid. 1921007841Narberth Pa: Narberth Choral Society 1921. Paperback. Good. 44 p.: illustrations; 22 cm. Tied with red thread; wrapper printed in red and black. The chorus was conducted by Clarence C. Nice. The soloists in this concert were soprano Lucy Marsh and violinist John Richardson. The chorus was accompanied by the Victor Orchestra. The Narberth Choral Society was created in the spring of 1921 opened the Steel Pier in New Jersey in June 1921 and as this program indicates performed at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City in Nov. of that year. There is no evidence that it continued to exist after that year. In 1923 Clarence C. Nice conducted the San Carlo Opera in 1928 he became director of the Rollins College conservatory by 1932 he was at the Orlando College of Music and in 1935 he became state director of the Florida Federal Music project. American soprano Lucy Isabelle Marsh 1878-1956 recorded frequently for the Victor Talking Machine Co. from 1909 to the late 1920s both under her own name and under the name Anna Howard. Violinist John Richardson 1906-2004 was a child prodigy born in Philadelphia who performed with many orchestras in the Mid-Atlantic region. After attending Curtis he joined the Philadelphia Orchestra. In 1935 he became concertmaster of Fred Waring's Pennsylvanians. He later joined the Dallas Symphony and the Baltimore Symphony. Includes many advertisements for businesses in the Ardmore-Philadelphia area. Quite scarce. In Good Condition: wrapper lightly soiled; dampstain at upper corner of a few pages; otherwise clean and solid. Narberth Choral Society paperback

The issues from Vol. I No. 1 1913 through Vol. II No. 8 1946 are collectively bound into one volume black leatherette spine panel lettered in gilt; Vol. III No. 1 1947 through Vol. III No. 10 1956 are collectively bound into a second volume dark blue buckram spine panel lettered in gilt; the remainder Vol. IV Nos. 1-4 6 1959-62 1964 1968 1976-80 are loose as issued. All bound issues retain original wraps. Both hardcovers are minimally ex-library with call labels mounted on lower spines but did not circulate and thus show virtually no wear; the loose issues show minor shelf/handling wear. A rare opportunity to acquire the majority of this scarce historical run in virtually unused condition the bound issues exceptionally well preserved. Issues vary in length from 20 pp. to 170. The Bulletin was issued erratically over the years but we have collated volume and issue numbers to guarantee completeness please note that no volumes were issued between 1956 and 1959. Title page slightly dampstained with small area of darkening along fore-edge of several early leaves. Approx. 1/2" notch of paper loss along top edge of Contents leaf. Otherwise nicely intact interior though evidently slightly trimmed. Graded as Good-VG due less to defects than to rebound/trimmed status. Exceptionally scarce early guide in fact one of the earliest promotional publications that led to the emergence of Niagara Falls as the premiere natural tourist attraction it later became. J. 1876004112Philadelphia: Pomeroy Whitman and Company 1876. Very Good . 1 double-leaf print from the 1876 Atlas of York County Pa. Signed "Ray Del." Contains an aerial view of the ironworks with inset illustrations showing sections of the house front department and the machine shop as well as several close-ups of machinery. Also shows a steam locomotive on the train tracks running in front of the ironworks. The ironworks was located on W. North Street in York. The company was founded in 1840 by Elisha Geiger and Samuel Bechtol; other partners during the 19th century included Alexander Small Edward G. Smyser and Smyser's sons. "E.G. Smyser" appears over the central door in the print with "Variety Iron Works" above that. In 1877 it opened an office in Baltimore where much of the ornamental ironwork was sold. The company also produced iron castings for J.W. Fiske Co. in New York City beginning in 1869. The company continued to operate until 1941. As of 2013 the central building was being used by the York Academy Revinoal Charter School. In Very Good Condition: slight staining along edges not impacting the image; solid and otherwise clean.
