Lawyer and judge Garrick Mallery 1784-1866 served in the Pennsylvania legislature from 1827 to 1830 and was chairman of the Committee of Ways and Means when the Bank of Pennsylvania was rechartered in 1830. He was the father of Garrick Mallery 1831-1894 an ethnologist who specialized in Native American sign language. This publication relating to the demise of the Bank of Pennsylvania during the financial panic of 1857-1858 is very scarce. Berry. On 14 Feb. 1887 Ellen A. Landis and John M. Landis her husband of the city of Harrisburg sold to Catharine Sauber Kreisher of Delaware Township Juniata County Pa. for $100 a tract of about 8 acres in Delaware Township Juniata County. This indenture replaces a prior deed from 1873 which is supposed to have been destroyed. Signed by John M. Landis; the witness notary public William Wolf; and the Juniata County Recorder Edward E. Berry. Ellen A. Landis was illiterate and signed with her mark. With the red stamp of the notary public William Wolf and the embossed stamp of the Juniata County Recorder's office. In Very Good- Condition: one small stain in upper left-hand section through both leaves; otherwise light soiling; solid. John C. Clark & Sons unknown
