A picture of this book is available upon request by email. The author travelled from Oman on the Arabian Sea in a ship similar to those used 1,000 years ago in an attempt to follow Sinbad's voyages from "A Thousand and One Nights". He travelled to India, Sri Lanka and across the Indian Ocean to Sumatra and the Malacca Straits to the China Seas to Canton in a boat that was a replica of an Arab sailing ship that was used a thousand years ago. It is one of the most remarkable sailing stories of the twentieth century. This copy includes a copy of the author's article in National Geographic (July 1982), 'In the Wake of Sinbad', a 40 page article with many colored photos, map, and is complementary to the book. Its included as part of the entire issue of the National Geographic for that month.

One of the few books on the island of Socotra in the Gulf of Aden off the coast of east Africa, which describes the cave-dwelling aboriginal people, witchcraft, and the strange primitive forms of plant and animal life. The author was part of the Oxford University Expedition of 1956, the first since 1899 to explore the island.
