019138San Francisco: International Hotel Support Committee Publisher. Unbound. Good. no date presumed late 1970s. Single sheet legal sized light pink paper. Printed on both sides with bilingual text: Spanish on one side English on the other. A flier for a demonstration to stop evictions at the International Hotel in San Francisco. Given that the last tenants were evicted in August 1977 it appears this demonstration may have been a last ditch effort. The flier describes public support for the cause and gives a list of four demands The International Hotel was a hotel located in the Manilatown section of San Francisco and provided low income housing to mostly elderly Filipino residents. Beginning in the late 1960s developers sought to evict its residents in order to build a parking garage. Students residents and city activists organized and protested for years against the eviction efforts including poet Al Robles. GOOD condition. The English side has a strip of white paper glued along the top edge obscuring some of the large captions. The paper bears a partial handwritten note that doesn't appear related to the flier. Minor wrinkling/creasing. International Hotel Support Committee, Publisher unknown
