Dark sepia toned images. One side with large illustrations of planes in dogfights with several smaller inset images of the cast. Reverse with a half page image of planes and Clara Bow with the other half page bearing two smaller images. An advertisement for the silent film Wings a 1927 movie starring Clara Bow Charles "Buddy" Rogers and Richard Arlen as well as a small role for Gary Cooper that according to Wikipedia "helped launch his career in Hollywood." The film was set during World War I and was noted for its aviation cinematography. GOOD condition. Many horizontal and vertical fold creases present with moderate wrinkling. Minor general toning. Extremities bumped and scuffed with the cloth worn through at the corners. The title page and place index page are DETACHED and laid in. Appears to be for a grocery store and perhaps was either owned by a Nathan W. Patch or by his relatives as his signature appears prominently on the first blank endpaper. Entries run from 1850 through the 1860's with some found in the back from 1875. Items appear as line entries with cost and the various purchaser's names at the top. Some names include Richard Woodberry Ezra Edwards Joseph Hillham Joseph Jewett Foster among others. The first half of the ledger bears these entries with the second half having blank pages and pages filled with what appears practice penmanship and basic math problems etc. Several pages in the rear are cut in half perhaps to serve some function to the ledger itself although this is not certain. Bound leather boards with marbled endpapers. In FAIR condition with heavy scuffing to the covers and extremities some loss of leather at the corners and spine and minor to moderate soiling. Heavy forward lean to the binding. Interior is solid with uneven fading to the pages with some being rather faded and thus hard to read and others with little to no fading. Scattered soiling throughout as well as some small scattered ink blots and other minor wear. A few pages to the rear have heavy dark scribbling on them. No printer or publisher Given unknown

Two US government pamphlets regarding California and its potential admission to the Union as well as the minority report part II against the admission of California as a state. The first part proposes to make territory acquired with the treaty of peace with Mexico one state California although outlining potential land disputes with the state of Texas and its claims. Part II continues reports and debates on the recent land acquisitions alluding to potential problems but also containing the bill at the end that proposes to make California a state. It also describes in brief the vast dimensions of the proposed state. Much of this report derives from the then recent conclusion of the U.S.-Mexican War 1846-1848 and the territory gained at the end of the War. California officially gained statehood in September of 1850. Both in GOOD condition. Paper splitting along the spines in danger of becoming separated. General browning to the paper. A collection of seven very large fold out maps depicting various bituminous coal producing regions in Pennsylvania with roads and rail lines serving the region also labeled and depicted. Pennsylvania Railroad logo on the map keys so it is presumed these maps may have been issued by the company. No accompanying text. Maps present are: the Pittsburg Region the Indiana-Butler Region the Clearfield Region the Broad Top Mountain Region the Renovo-Cook's Run Region the Snow Shoe-Tangascootac Region and the English Center-Ralston Region. Maps in GOOD to VERY GOOD condition with a few minor tears along the folds minor toning and scattered soiling. A promotional postcard for the boxing match/title fight between Muhammad Ali and Leon Spinks. The postcard has an illustration of Leon Spinks jabbing butterfly net in hand. Two smaller images of Muhammad Ali fly around Spinks one depicting Ali as a butterfly the other as a bee. The boxing match occurred on February 15 1978 with Spinks having won a gold medal in the 1976 Olympics billed as the underdog. Spinks won a split decision making him the Heavyweight Champion and the only boxer to take the title away from Ali in the ring. GOOD condition. Heavy uneven toning with some creasing and soiling. SIGNED by Eugene McCarthy Hubert Humphrey Walter Mondale and Harold Stassen. Beside serving in various elected political positions including 2 as Vice-Presidents of the United States all four ran are also noted for having run unsuccessfully for president. Harold Stassen ran many times as a Republican candidate never receiving his party's nomination; Walter Mondale served as Vice-President from 1977-81 and ran against Ronald Reagan in 1984; Hubert Humphrey served as Vice-President from 1965-69 and ran against Richard Nixon in 1968; Eugene McCarthy is perhaps best known for his 1968 presidential run where he gained some success running as an anti-war candidate opposed to Johnson's handling of the Vietnam War. A catalog to various automobiles including cars trucks and other commercial vehicles made by a variety of manufacturers. Includes cost principal mechanical details and specifications. Manufacturers include Auburn Apperson Chevrolet Durant Haynes Dodge Studebaker Olds Nash Pierce-Arrow etc. Perhaps of note are four pages of electric vehicles including cars and commercial vehicles made by Rauch and Lang Autocar and Ward Motor Vehicle Company. While electric cars had been around since the late 1800s their use declined by 1920 due to innovations in gasoline power car design and discovery of vast amounts of oil rendering them all but obsolete by the early to mid 1920s. GOOD condition. Five strips of yellowed tape present across the spine. Covers and text block a bit wavy presumably from water exposure at some point. 008831No Place: No Publisher. Unbound. Fair. Handwritten letter detailing the medical procedures undertaken to heal an 'ununited fracture of the humerus.' No author date or location although dates in the text indicate the treatment took place around 1851-1852 perhaps in Massachusetts. Single sheet folded into four pages all full of writing. The author documents his encounter with a 28 year old male who had broken his humerus in a carriage fall. It had not healed correctly despite attempts by other doctors. The doctor/author of this letter recalls his efforts to reset the bones including removing callouses and other treatments that eventually led to an apparent somewhat successful outcome. FAIR/GOOD condition. A one by two inch area of loss present at the upper left corner resulting in small amounts of MISSING text in that location on the first two pages. Dark browning present in this area with other small spots of browning and staining to the paper. Small hole at the center fore edge with a few letters missing because of this. Based on the tone and information it appears that the concerns of the incarcerated were addressed and met with compromises reached that satisfied a majority of the incarcerated. A description of Native Americans in a somewhat flattering light mentioning their noted hospitality and kindness humoruous anecdotes regarding their interactions with American leaders during the Revolutionary War a brief description of their life in wigwams mention of the chief Red Jacket and a picture of the Oregon Native Americans. VERY GOOD condition with some darkening to the covers. Small number 2 in pencil near the title on the front cover. Light edgewear. The first letters of the last two lines of text on the rear cover missing apparently part of the printing process. Inner text is clean and solid with a miniscule tear to the top corner of page 11 some darkening and some pages with text/illustration printed crooked on the pages. Previous owner's signature David Crockett on the inside front cover. Nice copy of this juvenile work with attractive covers and interior and very little wear associated with use by children.
