Paper covered boards with a calf leather spine. 108 pp. A guide to the practice of arithmetic focusing on addition subtraction multiplication division vulgar fractions barter and trade etc. The work was written by New Hampshire native Phineas Merrill a resident of Stratham NH. Best known as a surveyor he also taught arithmetic and wrote this guide to simplify his classes. GOOD condition ex-library. Exterior call label interior pastedowns and markings present. Several areas of ink staining to the covers with minor soiling and fading. Leather worn along the spine with the other extremities rather bumped scuffed and frayed. A poem relating historical and geographical details of the Mississippi River with a lengthy appendix providing notes and further history on Native Americans and early settlements in the Mississippi River area as well as mentioning slavery and hypothesizing on the uses of the river for transportation and commerce. In FAIR/GOOD condition. Collated and complete although bearing the remains of missing a section of pages in the middle suggesting another work or ads were bound into the middle of this work. Pagination runs consistent throughout. Slightly ex-historical library society with two stickers and stamping on the inside front cover/first endpaper. Minor soiling spotting and rubbing to the covers. Offsetting along the spine. Extremities scuffed and bumped. Covers split along the front and rear hinges but still intact. Interior solid with minor scattered soiling and minor to moderate foxing throughout. Dampstain present affecting the first few pages. Sabin 47218. S. Porter and Co unknown

Either single sheets or stapled packets. 21 items plus duplicates relating to the 1972 presidential campaign of George McGovern. This includes statements that relay McGovern's thoughts on the economy education foreign aid arms control unemployment senior citizens voting record on labor flyers for events etc. Also included are printings of speeches given by McGovern one from New Hampshire and one from Massachusetts. Several items gather press material either for the media or what the media has said about McGovern. George McGovern was a long time US politician who ran for president in 1968 and 1972. He gained the democratic nomination in 1972 but lost to Nixon. Items range from good to very good condition. Varying amounts of general toning minor soiling creasing and otherwhere to the pieces. A few with ink annotations. No publisher unknown

Front cover art by Winsor McCay the noted American cartoonist illustrator and "father" of American animation. A program for the 1909-1910 season of shows at the New York Hippodrome featuring a ballet depicting life in Japan as well as some photos of Maori who were featured in the show as well. Unfortunately their photos are captioned with rather crude language usage indicating they were "imported" for the show. GOOD condition. Faint vertical fold crease present. Minor wrinkling and creasing to the covers. Some toning soiling to the covers with two faint ring stains to the rear cover along with some other minor areas of discoloration.
