Some browning and foxing as expected; faint marginal dampstains; edges of first and last few leaves a little brittle; overall internally nice and clean. <br/><br/>Provenance: An early inscription on flyleaf reads This book is the property of Abraham Staats and lent to me in the 4th Day of August 1786 Peter D. Vroom.'' Abraham Staats born c. 1665 was a younger son of New Netherland pioneers Abraham and Tryntie Wessels Staats. He joined other Albany residents in signing a loyalty oath to the King of England in 1699. In 1700 his sloop was carrying cargoes on the Hudson for the provincial government. However within a decade he had sold most of his Albany property and moved his family across the river to Staats lands near today's Stockport. He maintained a large farmstead and lived there for the remainder of his life. Col. Peter Dumont Vroom 1745-1831 represented Somerset County as an Assemblyman 179091 179496 and 181113 and served in the Legislative Council from 1798 to 1804 as a Federalist. His son would go on to become the ninth governor of New Jersey. This volume is the third compilation of the laws of New Jersey and the last of the colonial series ending during the tenure of Governor William Franklin. Evans 41911; Felcone 214. Samuel Allison 1739-1791 was a Burlington attorney who had an interest in both politics and the law. In 1762 he was commissioned as one of the surrogates for West Jersey and was put to work compiling a new edition of provincial laws which is the current volume and covers the period from 1702 to 1776. Allison was a Quaker who opposed slavery and secession from the British Empire. He worked throughout his life to end slavery and became a spokesperson for a sizeable Quaker community in New Jersey. The present work includes coverage of relief of the poor raising money for public buildings preventing the waste of timber and the regulation of slaves. This remarkable photo album illustrates the building and improvement of infrastructure in and around Camden NJ and Gloucester NJ at the beginning of the 20th century for the Public Service Trolley Line Company. Pardee 1882-1932 was a New Jersey contractor and builder who worked on laying trolley tracks for the company. These images show the rebuilt timber fenders along the Pesauken Creek Bridge new retaining wall built for the Smith Property in Bellmawr NJ for the new Trolley Line bridge over the old sluiceway on Martha Pond on the Oswego River timber bridge along the White Horse Pike by Mooretown the rebuilding of the Electric Trolley line extending the Almonessen Branch to Blackwood as well as the Federal Street Bridge over Coopers Creek in Camden NJ. Of particular interest are the excellent series of photos showing the streets and houses through Gloucester NJ as the company ripped out the old wooden cord roads and laid brick for holding the trolley line ties. After World War I Pardee established the E. Brown Pardee Inc. brick stone and masonry supplies in Collingswood NJ expanding to other building materials through the 1920s until his death. Very Good. <br /> <br /> An impressive and incredibly touching gift from a woman to her goddaughter assembled and given in the wake of the death of the goddaughter's husband. In the introductory typed letter the godmother counsels that alcohol is not the answer to her pain advises her to visit a "wise Indian man" she knows and hopes that the Dragon Book she has assembled will be of some comfort. A fascinating mix of pre-Wikipedia early internet material culture. The bulk of the material is printed internet articles: draconian.com still active and more or less in its same form gives a wide-ranging dragon background and articles from Emergency Librarian People Magazine the South Florida Business Journal and many many others are included painting a full picture of dragons in mythology and popular culture. <br /> <br /> The compiler has also included two excised Yellow Pages pages and highlighted the "Dragon" entries several pages of Stevie Nicks internet fanpages a few hand-written student reports original color drawings and dozens of poems printed and typed all dragon themed of course. A heartfelt collection highlighting mid to late 90s internet culture and the comfort fantasy can offer well before the nerd wall was broken in the early 2000s. . unknown
