Von Kerney's writing begins around 1900 with the Danube Swabian (ethnic German) communities in the Hungarian half of the Austro-Hungarian dual-monarchy. Includes maps and grainy illustrations. Erste und einzige Ausgabe dieser lithografierten Folge von 30, durchwegs mit kundiger Hand und detailreich ausgearbeiteten Tusch- und Bleistiftzeichnungen, darunter auch einigen Gemälden (wahrscheinlich Aquarelle) von Carl Mienzil (1855-1916), Lieutenant im Dienste der österreichisch-ungarischen Okkupationstruppen in Bosnien und der Herzegowina. Der Militär und begabte Zeichner Mienzil ist heute auch als bedeutender Kunstsammler (u.a. von japanischen Farbholzschnitten) überliefert, in diesem Zusammenhang in den Jahren 1913-15 auch als Beiträger für die »Internationale Sammlerzeitung«. - Die laut Deckeltitel und Datierung auf einigen der Blätter im Jahr 1882, und damit vier Jahre nach dem Okkupationsfeldzug entstandenen und mit Kurzlegenden versehenen Zeichnungen Mienzils zeigen vornehmlich Ansichten von bzw. Szenerien mit Staffage vor bedeutenden Gebäuden oder Stätten (Tore, Türme, Konake, Friedhöfe, Brücken) in oder bei größeren Siedlungen, wie etwa Jajce, Kiseljak, Travnik und Zenica, weiters „Bosnische Typen“ (eine Frau in Tracht „aus den Bergen“, „Katholiken“ und eine „Türkin“, außerdem militärische oder wirtschaftliche Motive wie ein Barackenlager oder den Eingang zum Schacht des ersten Kohlenbergwerks in Bosnien (beides in Zenica). Bemekenswert ist auch die Darstellung einer Szenerie in einer türkischen Kaffeestube. – Die Seitenwände der Kassette an den Gelenken gebrochen, Einband stellenweise gering fleckig und mit hs. Besitzervermerk, einige Blätter leicht fingerfleckig, sonst sauberes Exemplar dieser äußerst seltenen Mappe, die über WorldCat und KVK weltweit in keinem einzigen weiteren Exemplar nachweisbar ist.
