2014 · 194941 — <p><em><strong>The Roof of Herodeion Theatre at Athens and Other Giant Bridgings</strong></em></p><p>In greek. Hard cover 34X25 cm 194 pp. ill. Herodium Theatre build by Herodes Atticus at the Roman era was the tallest building in Greece until the time the Athens 'Hilton was built; it still remains the biggest worldwide building roof 50 m. of natural timber without intermediate supports !</p><p>Despite the literary evidence most archaeologists and architectural historians have argued that bridging the vast distance of the walls of this building is impossible. However even now that it's a ruin the building retains construction details that confidently demonstrate the erstwhile existence of the roof and simultaneously show the basic layout of this truss.</p><p>The proposed representation is based on all extant evidence on the building and on what is known for its tremendous achievements of the Romans in bridges.
