This work provides account of the expedition of the Ten Thousand an army of Greek mercenaries hired by Cyrus the Younger to help him seize the throne of Persia from his brother Artaxerxes II in 401 BC. With notes by Thomas Hutchinson a British literary editor. In the original half calf binding with marbled boards. Externally smart with light rubbing to the extremities and the odd small mark to the boards. Hinges just starting but firm. Internally firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot and light tide marks to the page edges. Age toning to the endpapers with contemporary ink inscriptions to the front endpaper and pastedown.
