Emilio Bertini (Prato, 22 febbraio 1836 – 6 agosto 1886), noto anche come Emilio Giuseppe Alemanno Bertini, insegnante e alpinista italiano. Rara prima edizione. Conservazione molto buona.

Edizione originale di questa pregevole opera, riuscita pubblicazione torinese, opera del noto patriota e scrittore piemontese scritta in omaggio alla lotta greca per l'indipendenza, 1821-1829. Precede l'opera l'ampio saggio del Peyron sull'Antica Grecia. Testo inquadrato in cornice corredato da 500 ill. xilog. n.t. + 39 (su 40) incisioni in acciaio f.t. protette da velina con titolo (monumenti e vedute, manca la veduta di Misistra) e 10 ritratti. Con una bella e grande pianta della città di Firenze incisa in rame più volte ripiegata in antiporta con i perimetri delle varie cinte di mura della storia di Firenze colorate a mano. Eccellente esemplare.
In-8° (190x123mm), pp. 195, (3), brossura editoriale marroncina con titolo in rosso e in nero e vignetta xilografica. 4 belle e dettagliate carte più volte ripiegate f.t. incise litograficamente: "Vallée de la Dora Riparia", "Traforo delle Alpi (al Colle di Frejus). Profilo e Piano geologico dei terreni attraversati dalla grande Galleria", "Pianta di Torino. 1872", "Vallée de l'Arc". Numerose xilografie intercalate n.t. e f.t., alcune delle quali (del Moncenisio, di Bardonecchia) su doppia pagina n.t. Qualche ombra, alone e traccia d'uso alla brossura ma buon esemplare in barbe. Quarta edizione francese, aumentata rispetto alle precedenti, nella traduzione di Noemi Gachet. Vengono fornite minuziose notizie topografiche, storiche e statistiche e, inoltre, si ripercorre la storia della Galleria delle Alpi Cozie, illustrando in parallelo l'itinerario da Torino a Chambéry e vari itinerari ed escursioni alpine, venendo così a formare un'esaustiva guida della Maurienne, della Valle di Susa e della città di Torino. Il Covino, geografo ed alpinista piemontese, pubblicò parecchie guide di Torino e trattati storici e geografici (sul Covino cfr. (Chamouni, Thun, Tyrol) e 10 tavole illustrative f.t. e 1 grande e affascinante veduta ripiegata f.t. (Hotel de La Tour, Martigny); sporadiche fioriture. Bell'edizione della nota e dettagliatissima «guida compilata ed edita da Audin sotto lo pseudonimo di Richard nel 1841» [Giorgio Ghiringhelli, Il Ponte del Diavolo nelle vecchie stampe, p. 139]. Ottimo esemplare.
In 24 (cm 10 x 15), pp. V + 294 (ma 588 reali perche' le pagine sono numerate doppie). Legatura coeva in tela. Pagine colorate in rosa, verde, arancio, giallo. Manuale di viaggio con termini in inglese, francese e italiano e il corrispondente in lingua araba.
Cm. 13 x 7; pp. 144; legatura posteriore in cartone marmorizzato (margini un po' stretti).<BR>CONDIZIONI BUONE (consueta la diffusa brunitura della carta).<BR>Carlo Emanuele Fontana (Parma, 1678 - Renania, 1730) fu paggio alla corte dell'imperatrice Eleonora e poi a quella di Ranuccio Farnese. Collaborò ad opere letterarie e in seguito "viaggiò per le principali città d'Italia e raccolse materiale che nel 1696 pubblicò in un'operetta curiosa e importante, dedicata a Dorotea Sofia di Neuburg, intitolata "La nobile, e virtuosa Italia mostrata in epilogo", stampata da Giuseppe Rossetti, nella quale descrive tutti gli Stati italiani, con particolare cura per gli istituti di educazione. Molto interessante è la descrizione del Collegio dei Nobili di Parma". Il Fontana fu poi anche Cameriere della chiave d'oro dell'elettore palatino Carlo Filippo in Renania. Guida di Parigi, tanto deliziosa tipograficamente quanto ricca e curiosa a livello di contenuti. Ottimo esemplare, completo di tutte le tavole, rare e lievi arrossature.. .
