Flush-cut quarter cloth and decorated card covers printed in gold and light and dark blue; covers lightly marked with a few small light pink stains to the front cover; notwithstanding an excellent copy. All plate leaves depict one or more illustrations from photographs against a watercolour pictorial background with calligraphic titles. There is only one full-page plate proper. Trove records copies in four institutions as well as what appear to be later editions: 'Gall's Glimpses of Adelaide and South Australia: 80 Viewlets' circa 1902 and 'Gall's Glimpses of Adelaide and South Australia: 100 Viewlets' circa 1904. A detailed report on mining ventures in northern South Australia in particular copper deposits in the Flinders Ranges and vicinity. In addition to the Great Northern mines Oratunga Nuccaleena Two Brothers Wheal Stuart Mount Chambers and Moro it includes the Victoria Kanyaka Wirrawilka Wheal Emily Wheal Blinman Mallee Camp and Wepowie Oraldana Yudnamutana Mount Rose and Arkaba mines. In the opening memorandum Goyder responds to William Harcus' claims about the colony's mineral deposits presumably in 'South Australia: Its History Resources and Productions' 1876 stating that 'I am ignorant of any locality that would warrant such glowing description; and perhaps it would have been better had the expressions used been of a less sanguine nature'. The 4th image is of two women in long white summer dresses and holding dark parasols just passing in front of a colonnaded building possibly Melbourne where horse drawn carriages await passengers. With the follow-up entitled "Copy of a Circular Despatch from the Secretary of State stating that the Question which threatened a War with the United States has been amicably settled: but pointing out the necessity of prompt and effectual preparation against contingencies." dated 22nd January 1862.
