Loosely inserted news-cutting "The Case for the Case" dated 19th September 1934 showing the casket made of local wood which will contain the Secession petition . which will be presented to the King by the Secession delegate". A beautifully bound copy in near fine condition. The 1934 'case for secession' failed and support for the Dominion League in the Western Australian community dwindled. The secession debate was reignited briefly in 1974 by mining magnate Lang Hancock with the formation of the Westralian Secession Movement. The movement was sparked in reaction to the centralist policy of the Whitlam Labor Government. However the movement failed to achieve prominence due to the strong economy at the time and disappeared as quickly as it emerged. Harrop 1st edition. Half leather. 1930143193Adelaide: Colton Palmer & Preston Ltd 1930. First Edition. Paperback. Very Good. Adelaide Colton Palmer & Preston Ltd. circa 1930s. Quarto 64 pages with hundreds of illustrations including 12 full-page illustrations in colour in fact 6 pages repeated - presumably a production fault. Wrappers slightly marked and a little rubbed at the extremities with a few tiny chips; top corner crease to the last two leaves and rear wrapper; overall an excellent copy. Five of the colour plates depict model bathroom designs 'The Sandown' 'The Holmesdale' 'The Pembroke' 'The Ripley' and 'The Dunrobin'. We have only one copy of this catalogue for sale we haven't seen one before and in case we don't see another one we'll take the liberty now while we have the opportunity of extolling the virtues of 'The Sandown' for those who miss out on purchasing the item. <p>'Many to whom it has been submitted admire it unstintingly while others are inclined to regard it as too adventurous. Though its appeal may not be general this new treatment which can of course be carried out in a variety of colours will be welcomed by many individualists with the courage of their convictions as a refreshing departure from the stereotyped. The wall colours are a deep Old Ivory and a subdued Blue that of the floor a pale Powder Blue with deeper border lines'. <p>On reflection the duplication of these six plates is perhaps an editorial directive not a production flaw after all. Colton, Palmer & Preston, Ltd paperback
