Original orange cloth gilt spine titles housed on the original cardboard slipcase with black spine lettering. Very minor wear to boards internally clean. Small puncture and some wear to spine of slipcase. A rare history of the Tenrikyo Mission in Hawaii beginning with the founding of its first church in Honolulu in 1929. Tenrikyo was a new Japanese religion founded in the 19th century in Japan by Nakayama Miki. The present work also includes information on many other churches on the islands including the Hilo Church Kauai Church the Maui Church and more. The photographic plates contain portraits of some mission members views of churches scenes from church life and more. The text is mostly in Japanese save for a fifteen-page section printing a series of English-language lectures on the Tenrikyo religion by members of the Hawaiian mission. OCLC records just a single physical copy of this rare Japanese-American work at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Tenrikyo Hawaii Mission unknown
