In-8, demi-chagrin vert bronze de l'époque, dos lisse orné de larges filets à froid en place des nerfs, titre doré, (4), 476 p. Edition originale de ce document publié par la "Tribune judiciaire" et rédigé par Jean Sabatier. Un décret du de 1852 autorisait l'établissement de docks et d'entrepôts de stockage à Paris sur les berges du canal Saint-Martin à Paris. Les trois associés de la compagnie (Cusin, Legendre et Duchêne de Vère), chargés de monter le projet, sont poursuivis pour abus de confiance, escroquerie, dilapidation du fonds social et détournement d'une partie des 20 millions versés par les actionnaires. L'affaire occasionna un important scandale car elle éclaboussait d'importantes personnalités du nouveau régime, dont Joseph Orsi proche de Napoléon III.

Recherches sur l'origine des ornemens d'architecture.

In-8, broché, couverture papier bleu moderne, 15 p. Edition originale. Député de Paris à la Convention, l'auteur fait un historique des ornements en architecture et démontre que l'histoire de l'architecture et de ses ornements se confond avec celle du passage de la contingence en "beau". La corruption provoquée sur les matériaux par le temps ou l'usure aurait été ainsi transformée en motifs artistiques et en ornements: cf. par exemple, les pierres sculptées de motifs de "vermicules" qui seraient "la copie fidèle de ces pierres mangées par l'air, la pluie et le temps".
