Text in Chinese. Qi Faxiang and his allies were accused of being three-anti elements. It was claimed that Qi was the person who was responsible for the death of thousands in a political campaign. He was also accused of sabotaging the local People's Commune. Officer's ID black and white head and shoulders portrait photograph laid down first page of the dossier 16pp original wrappers light staple stains occasional creasing mainly on corners overall very good. Text in traditional Chinese. 24.8 x 18.4cm. This dossier is for 芦再排 Lu Zaipai born in Anhui Province in 1932 his courtesy name 芦昌仁 Lu Changren. His family background were considered good as he was a peasant before joined the revolution although his maternal uncle was forced to join the Kuomintang in 1941 and was liberated in 1949. The form says Lu Zaipai was enlisted in 1951 and his experience from 1938 till 1951 was given and verified by four different referees. Lu joined the Chinese New Democracy Youth League in February 1954. Text in traditional and simplified Chinese. This poster was issued by Qinghai Sheng Red Guards Headquarter on 19 October 1966 and was addressed to the workers peasants soldiers and the Red Guards. Two issues of Chinese language daily newspaper covering reports of the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games published by Jiefang Daily Press on November 22nd 1956 issue no. 2710 and 23rd issue no. 2711 in Shanghai. Black and white illustrations each issue a single sheet printed on double sided folded complete. Small pin-holes along central folds with stain marks occasional tear on folds overall in very good condition. Text in Chinese language. Sheet measures 57 x 77.6cm. The Melbourne Olympic coverage is on Page 3 in both issues. Issue no. 2710 gives general information about soon to be opened ceremony in Melbourne with more than 60 countries and regions athletes' participating. It also forecasts the possible win of the Soviet Unions' basketball team. Issue no. 2711 explains that China had to withdraw from the Games because the Republic of China/Taiwan had been allowed to compete. Nations include Egypt Iraq Lebanon Netherlands Spain and Switzerland also pulled out of the Olympics. It states that Egypt Iraq and Lebanon's boycott is due to the Suez Crisis. However the article avoids mentioning that it was the Soviet Union's involvement in Hungarian Revolution which led to the boycott of the Games by three nations. The Australian Middle-distance runner John Landy took the Olympic Oath to mark the official opening of 1956 Summer Olympics. <br> <br>Jiefang Daily was first published in May 28th 1949 covering international domestic and Shanghai local news. These two issues feature Premier Zhou Enlai's state visit to Vietnam. It is the Party newspaper for the Shanghai Committee of the Communist Party of China. These two issues feature Premier Zhou Enlai's state visit to its communist neighbour Vietnam and the hot news of Israel's invasion in Egypt. Folder measures 38.9 x 29.5cm calendar sheets 37 x 28cm. Each month features an attractive stylised seasonal design. A little foxing on the lower margin of the sheet for January sheet and occasional light foxing on folder. Overall very good. Keisuke Serizawa 1895 - 1984 Japanese textile artist extraordinaire and leading member of the mingei movement was honoured by Japanese authorities with the title "Living National Treasure" in 1956. His output was not limited to textiles alone publishing amongst other items screens scrolls fans and curtains. Between 1946 and 1984 he published this strikingly beautiful series of hand stencilled calendars which even following his death his studio continued to publish for a further 4 years. . unknown

This Sugoroku was created to commemorate the first anniversary of the magazine Togyo Shuho 糖業週報 Sugar Industry Weekly. The squares of the the sugoroku game are made up of advertisements and logos of sugar refining and trading companies in Japan mostly Tokyo. Japan had acquired the colony of Taiwan in 1895 and the Taiwanese sugar industry heavily supported by the Japanese colonial authorities was rapidly expanding at this time. The establishment of the journal Togyo Shuho reflected this expansion. The game concludes with an image of cartoon figure businessmen waving bundles of cash in their hands. . The original metal staples which were rusted have been removed and are now sewn with silk spines are a little worn with the odd chip but generally very good. Two issues of the journal "Rekishi Shashin" Historic Photographs- no. 112 Nov. 1922 and no. 115 February 1923. The journal was published from 1913 onwards by entrepreneur Akiyoshi Zentaro 1866-1924 and was one of Japan's first graphic magazines focusing on the use of photographic illustrations. The magazines which were aimed at a broad popular audience feature brightly coloured covers and traditional colour woodblock frontispieces followed by black-and-white photos illustrating a wide range of newsworthy topics including political events sports and popular culture. <br> <br>The eclectic contents give a wonderful insight into early 1920s Japanese popular culture. Two 1950s Chinese personal file cards of two Chinese PLA officers original black and white ID photos in military uniforms laid down upper right corner with official seal on the photo the card has been neatly handwritten in ink by an officer from the Political Section of no. 32 Vehicle Regiment two binder holes left margin loss at upper right corner of one photo overall in very good condition. Text in Chinese. 16.3 x 24.7cm. Officer 李秀峰 Li Xiufeng former name 李建才 Li Jiancai archival file no. 0704. He was 25 years old when he filed his personal information on 10th March 1953. Li served as a corporal at the no. 3 Battalion no. 7 Company of no. 32 Vehicle Regiment. A detailed personal background check shows that Li came from a wealthy farmer family in Shandong Province and well educated prior to his joining the army in August 1950. He studied at Jinan Normal College as a qualified radio communications officer. His background and security check appears to have been without a problem. Documents submitted were verified. His three school mates' information were also documented. Interesting one of them were former Nationalist but worked at Jinan Telecommunication Bureau at that time. <br> <br>Officer 熊烈雲 Xiong Lieyun former name 熊烈元 Xiong Lieyuan archival file no. 1003. He was 22 at that time with six fingers and tall as his physical characteristics. Xiong served as a corporal at the Maintenance Company of no. 32 Vehicle Regiment. A detailed personal background check shows that Xiong came from a middle peasant family in Anhui Province and he was a junior high school graduate. He had been proactive and well behaved since joining the army in 1949. A set of unpublished mimeographed Japanese military documents containing detailed information about various parts of the Tapanuli Regency of Sumatra under Japanese occupation. The four separate volumes cover Tapanuli Regency in general the town of Tarutun Fort de Kock Bukittingi and the wider central west coast region of Sumatra. The volume on Tapanuli is dated August 1942 and the volume of Tarutun October 1942 suggesting that these were compiled a few months after the Japanese invasion of Sumatra. They contain basic information on climate population history customs transport and education. The volume on Tarutun includes a detailed fold-out map of the town and there are also detailed statistical tables on climate agriculture education etc. A rare and important source for researching the wartime history of Indonesia. . Ke was accused as spy and was locked up during the Yan'an Rectification Movement in 1942. <br> <br>Issue no. 2 of 红旗 "Red Flag" features a speech delivered by Premier Zhou Enlai on 15 August 1967 criticising Liu Shaoqi. The cards measure 7 x 5cm and are presented in a coloured pictorial card box measuring 15 x 11 x 4.5cm. Lower section of box repaired the lid is soiled and a trifle worn with a small label of the Matsuzakaya Department Store on one side. A lovely 1930s game. This is a beautifully preserved iroha card game set comes complete with 48 picture cards and 48 word cards and 2 spare cards. The pictures were apparently drawn by Onuma Shogon 1899 - 1983 who often painted nature scenes and animals. They reflect the period in Japan when young boys wore short hair and school uniforms and women wore kimonos more often than western dress. <br> <br>The iroha card game is a traditional board game for New Year day holiday when the family get together to have fun. Many children learn to read characters by playing the game and the sayings that appear on these word cards are still used commonly as proverbs in the contemporary Japan. . This issues focuses on Wang Hongwen and was probably mimeographed for study at a work unit. 26.6 x 19.3cm text in simplified Chinese characters. Print quality variable sometimes affecting legibility. Four folded leaves 8 pages stapled. Upper paper wrapper heavily foxed with light foxing on other leaves upper wrapper detached but still holding at second staple. Wang Hongwen is portrayed in these writings as a political liar and hypocrite who pretended to be a gentleman while placing himself above Mao and presenting himself as a hero in a bid to seize power.
