1944617837Hollywood: Carrie Jacobs-Bond & Son 1944. Softcover. Very Good. Sheet music. Quarto. Single bifolium with a single-sheet-insert making six pages. Corners bumped exterior rubbed very good or better. For low voice and piano. Plate imprint "B-368." The author of the lyrics to this piece is the poet Francis Carlin full name James Francis Carlin MacDonald. Carlin was so dedicated to his work not just poetry but something he created called "Biblical Construction" that for many years his friends and colleagues in the literary world thought he had disappeared. A 1939 New York Times article about the poet is headlined "MISSING POET FOUND AFTER SIXTEEN YEARS; Francis Carlin Now Seeks Job as Dishwasher or Watchman." Carlin is quoted in the article as saying "If I succeed in getting a $10 or $12 a week job I will be able to finish the work I believe I was put here to do." We found an image of a press photo online the back of which completes the quote "I'll have my room my food and three fills of the pipe a day . A man couldn't ask more of life than that could he" Unfortunately his work is little known today and it appears he never published anything about his Biblical Construction. OCLC locates only four holdings of this piece. Carrie Jacobs-Bond & Son unknown
