br. La condotta delle voci è l'arte musicale della combinazione dei suoni nel tempo. L'insegnamento di questa fondamentale tecnica di composizione è tuttora prevalentemente basato sulla scrittura a più parti nello stile del corale barocco, circostanza che porta molti musicisti a domandarsi perché, in un'epoca di sconfinato pluralismo stilistico, si continui a fare riferimento a una teoria tanto vetusta e limitata. Attingendo a decenni di importanti ricerche scientifiche, in questo libro David Huron propone una spiegazione accessibile dei fondamenti cognitivi e percettivi di questa tecnica e di molti dei suoi fenomeni, tra cui la prevalenza percettiva della voce superiore, il raddoppio delle note degli accordi, le ottave dirette, le note di abbellimento e la sensazione musicale che certi suoni "portino" in una certa direzione. Huron dimostra così che le tradizionali regole della condotta delle voci sono in linea, in modo pressoché perfetto, con le moderne spiegazioni scientifiche della percezione uditiva. Guardando oltre la scrittura nello stile del corale, Huron prova inoltre che i principi percettivi ormai assodati possono essere sfruttati per comporre, analizzare e comprendere criticamente qualsiasi tipo di scrittura, dalla melodia accompagnata di una canzone alla strumentazione sinfonica, dall'arrangiamento per gruppo jazz fino all'astratta musica elettroacustica. Un punto di accesso ideale sia per i musicisti interessati alla cognizione musicale sia per gli appassionati desiderosi di capire quali siano i fondamenti scientifici che sostengono le regole, spesso fin troppo astratte, della musica.

RARE orchestral score of Symphony No.3, titled "EgoPhano", composed in 1984 by the eminent Japanese composer of contemporary classical music Shin-ichiro Ikebe (b.1943), also renowned for the scores for many films by Akira Kurosawa and other Japanese film directors (Kurosawa's 'Kagemusha', 'Dreams', 'Rhapsody in August', 'Madadayo'; Masahiro Shinoda's 'MacArthur's Children', Shohei Imamura's 'Warm Water Under a Red Bridge'). The symphony was commissioned by the Nihon Symphony Foundation, and premiered on May 25, 1984 by the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Michiyoshi Inoue, in Tokyo Bunka Kaikan. 360x260mm. 79 pages.
