All volumes are undated; dated from Jisc c1890.Containing seven oratorios:Nisi Dominus and Jubilate in Vocal Score: Composed for the Peach of Utrecht by G F Handel; A Song of Destiny Schicksalslied by Johannes Brahms; Mass in C in Vocal Score The Praise of Music: Cantata Communion Service in C and The Ruins of Athens: a Cantata by Ludwig Van Beethoven. Each volume included has been bound with its own title page. In a half morocco binding over cloth covered boards. Externally smart with some shelf wear and a slight rubbing to the spine and extremities. With a minor scuffing to the leather to the front board. Internally firmly bound. Démissionnaire en 1870 ce spécialiste de la musique à laquelle il avait par ailleurs consacré quelques essais Beethoven 1859 ; Chopin 1861 ; Weber 1862 Schubert 1865 ; Mendelssohn 1867-1868 ; Haydn 1870-1871 ; Gluck 1874-1875 ; Heller 1876 et des Études sur la littérature contemporaine et les idées nouvelles 1865 se tourna vers la politique et fut élu député de La Rochelle en 1877 après deux échecs. Élu sénateur de la Charente-Inférieure en janvier 1885 il y demeura jusqu’à son décès. En août 1898 il proposa avec Bisseuil au conseil général où il siégeait un vœu ainsi formulé :Le conseil général en présence des polémiques odieuses qui pourraient avoir pour effet sinon pour but d’ébranler la foi du pays dans ceux qui ont la glorieuse mission de le protéger et de le défendre invite le gouvernement à faire respecter par tous l’autorité de la chose jugée et envoie à notre vaillante armée et à ses chefs l’expression de son dévouement de son inaltérable confiance et de son respect » « Conseils généraux » Le Temps 27 août 1898.
