Presumably this photograph was taking at one of the buildings at Oil Hill Kansas during the oil boom in Kansas in the first half of the 20th century. Written in small white letters at the bottom of the photograph are the words - "Urell Photo Towanga sp." <br /> <br /> From wikepedia: The community was formed during the oil boom in Butler County.2 A post office was established in Oil Hill in 1917 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1958.3 The community no longer exists and is considered a ghost town.4.
