Frontespizio con rinforzo al dorso (alcuni piccoli forellini e difetti che toccano alcune lettere). Testatine, iniziali e finalini ornati. Piccolissimo ed ininfluente tarletto al margine bianco superiore delle ultime 10 carte. Opera leggermente ed uniformemente brunita a causa della qualità della carta. Alcune minime macchioline di foxing in poche pagine e per il resto, a parte i difetti al frontespizio, in buone condizioni di conservazione. Errore di numerazione a pagine 293 e 294 con numerazione ripetuta due volte. In questo esemplare le due carte di indice sono state erroneamente rilegate alla fine del volume. Bellissime le tavole che contengono, figure geometriche, progetti di fortificazioni, costruzioni e macchinari legati al lavoro dell’ingegnere e del geometra. RARISSIMA PRIMA EDIZIONE di uno dei testi di ingegneria più famosi della storia della Francia che ebbe enorme successo e varie riedizioni fino ad essere ancora oggi ristampato. L’opera tratta delle varie conoscenze utili all’ingegneria civile e militare e all’arte della fortificazione. ASSAI RARO.

Wenckebach". - Karl Friedrich Wenckebach war Professor für Innere Medizin in Groningen, Straßburg und Wien. "Als einer der ersten Internisten spezialisierte sich Wenckebach auf Kardiologie. Besondere Verdienste erwarb er sich bei der Erforschung der Herzrhythmusstörungen, die er noch vor der Entwicklung der Elektrokardiographie diagnostizierte und erforschte. Als Wenckebach-Perioden werden periodisch wiederkehrende Anomalien des Herzrhythmus bezeichnet. 1906 beschrieb er das nach ihm benannte 'Wenckebach-Bündel'. Wenckebach war Begründer und Mitherausgeber des 'Wiener Archivs für innere Medizin' und machte sich um das Institut für Geschichte der Medizin der Universität Wien verdient. 1931 hielt er sich im Auftrag der niederländischen Regierung zum Studium der Beri-Beri-Krankheit in Batavia auf" (DBE).
