In-4°, pp 98, legatura semplice. In-4°, 98 pp, simple binding. Pietro Abbati Marescotti in the hometown of Modena received university education with an excellent mathematical base, learning directly from Luigi Fantini, Paolo Cassiani and Giovan Battista Venturi. He was a friend of Paolo Ruffini for the lifetime and with him, albeit without any official recognition, he devoted himself to mathematical research, in particular in the fields of algebraic equations, of the calculation of probabilities and of group theory, for which he seems to have placed this idea in the foreground to Ruffini, who subsequently developed it. Further mathematical studies, and exchanges with Ruffini, dealt with Diophantine problems of the Fermat type, properties of prime numbers, probability theory, the identification of the number of imaginary roots and the comparison with the results of P. Paoli, the relations between the roots of the equation and the coefficients, the Descartes rule for incomplete equations, the properties of the permutations on the roots of a fourth or fifth degree equation, the equation of differences, the rational functions of the roots, the resolution by approximation and the its Lagrange method.
