Professionally rebound not recently retaining most of the leather from the original or early top board calf light rubbed some loss of leather on corner of top board. Generally a very good clean firm binding. Internally small abrasion hole on margin of title page minor repair to inner margin of title page early annotaion in ink partially erased on verso of title some light browning to edges of about 10 pages. Griffiths describes this edition as 16mo but it is in 6s with horizontal chainlines. Bound in contemporary black morocco rubbed but sound. Sides tooled in triple panels with corner tools. Illustrated with a folding colour map this is a very scarce legal act aiming to consolidate existing legislation relating to the London Docks. A very scarce 1828 act being 9 Geo. IV. Sess. 1828The London Docks Consolidation Act of 1828 was an act of Parliament that consolidated and amended existing legislation regarding the construction and operation of the London Docks.It aimed to streamline the legal framework for the docks which were vital for trade and commerce. Specifically the act dealt with the London Dock Company's authority to make improvements and modifications to the docks affecting areas like Charles Street and Farthing Fields.Illustrated with a folding colour map by Civil Engineer Henry R. Palmer titled 'Plan of the London Docks Exhibiting the Proposed Entrance and Entrance Basin at Shadwell'. Unbound with title page bound to the rear. Loss to upper half of first text leaf page 1 with significant closed tear and neat repairs to following leaf. Internally binding significantly strained with title page tenderly held and with folding map detached but present and binding especially tender between pages 68 and 69.
