Rara edizione originale di uno dei classici studi di idraulica e idrodinamica. Interessante soprattutto il secondo volume che descrive numerosi esperimenti idraulici. Volumi accompagnati complessivamente da 23 tavv. f.t. incise in rame più volte pieg. (12 nel primo vol. e 11 nel secondo) raffiguranti molte macchine idrauliche incluso due apparecchiature che producono vapore. Charles Bossut (1730-1814) fisico e matematico francese fu chiamato a Parigi a collaborare con il D'Alambert alla parte matematica dell'Encyclopedie, contribu? allo sviluppo delle scienze nautiche (navigazione marittima e architettura navale). Eccellente es. stampato su carta forte, dorso della leg. del II vol. con piccoli interventi di restauro ben eseguiti. Opera rara e bella.
