Questo libro analizza il neo-noir (da Detective's story, 1966 e Senza un attimo di tregua, 1967) nel corso degli anni e delle epoche, delle culture e delle ideologie, quale specchio di trasformazioni sociali e di mercato. Per la prima volta in Italia, un genere ormai comunemente accettato dalla critica e dalla teoria accademica viene studiato non in termini unicamente storici ma attraverso alcune "macro-idee" (titoli, volti, autori, tematiche) con le quali tracciare una mappatura in grado di raccontare un genere sia nelle sue dinamiche economiche e produttive, sia quale rappresentazione del mutamento del pensiero, della società e dello spettatore, sia come campanello d'allarme per le sensibilità sociali.

ill., br. Basta leggere questo saggio per capire in quale chiave l'architetto della Chiesa sull'Autostrada si ponga rispetto alla storia e alla funzione dell'architettura nella società. Lo fa in presa diretta, sottraendosi a qualsiasi filtro di segno accademico. Porta alla luce l'anticlassicismo di Brunelleschi, quasi lo fiuta, meglio di tanti critici. Michelucci, intriso di cultura umanistica, sente che col Rinascimento canonizzato, Brunelleschi non c'entra nulla. E dichiara di detestare Palazzo Strozzi, perché rappresenta la negazione delle conquiste liberatrici espresse nelle fabbriche brunelleschiane. Rifiuta le città ideali prefigurate dagli artisti rinascimentali, perché sono asociali, oggetti privati dei ceti dominanti, antitesi del concetto stesso di città. Il rapporto di Michelucci con la storia è, dunque, dinamico, e mira a una libertà senza soggezioni verso il passato. Qual è, infine, il metro con cui valutare l'architettura? È presto detto: "Nonostante l'infinita varietà, gli spazi possibili appartengono sostanzialmente a due categorie: quella dello spazio che vincola e quella dello spazio che libera". A monte c'è una questione etica che va "oltre l'architettura" (per citare Edoardo Persico): quando lo spazio vincola, è contro l'uomo, ma quando è "spazio vivente", libera e si rivela davvero democratico. The Bulletin as well as the pamphlets added are all of satyrical vein against G.J.B. Target, who made a major contribution to the wording of the 1791 Constitution, he was one of the prime movers in the national patriot party in 1788-1789 and he contributed notably to the Constituent Assembly's legal, constitutional and administrative reforms. - A very nice and well preserved collection.This Mirabeau was the younger brother of the famous Mirabeau and member of the National Assembly. He emigrated to Germany in 1790 where he formed the famous legion of the "hussards de la mort." He received the nickname of "Tonneau" due to his being often drunk. Reproached by his brother he answered: "What are you complaining about ? Of all the possible vices of the family you have left me only this one!"
