Industrial biotechnology can be defined as the use of modern biological life sciences in process of industries. For example, industrial biotechnology has applications in a number of markets that affect our daily lives: in chemicals; in food processing; and in textiles just to name a few. Additionally, industrial biotechnology may not only help with better processing of materials, but it may also play an important role on reducing emissions and increasing efficiencies in the manufacturing process. Industrial biotechnology is transforming many of the world’s industrial operations. The promise of industrial biotechnology has always been to reduce or replace the use of fossil energy and hydrocarbon-based materials with renewable, plant-based resources and naturally occurring microbes to produce more cost-effective and environmental-friendly materials for textiles, fuels, chemicals, pollution prevention and even human pharmaceuticals. Designed for students and practitioners of biotechnology and related fields, this book describes the potential applications of biotechnology in the industrial sector. This unique and up-to-date resource offering readers an innovative and valuable presentation of the subject. This book on geometry reminds us that come what may Mathematics cannot be forgotten. Of course Euclid with his book 'The Elements' is the pioneer of Geometry. No less important are contributions due to Pythagoras and Ptolemy. This book contains several examples both difficult and somewhat easy and their solutions. Theorem no. 76, and solution of isosceles triangles with vertical angles 36 degree may strike excitement in you. Contents:- CONTENTS:- # Preface 9, Introduction 13, 1. A biosensor is a device for the detection of an analyte that combines a biological component with a physiochemical detector component. A typical biosensor consists of three parts: a sensitive biological element, a transducer in between and a detector element. The most widespread example of a commercial biosensor is the blood glucose biosensor, which uses an enzyme to break blood glucose down. In so doing it transfers an electron to an electrode and this is converted into a measure of blood glucose concentration. The high market demand for such sensors has fuelled development of associated sensor technologies. This book covers recent developments that combine the fields of biotechnology and electrical engineering with applications in the detection of very low levels of chemicals and biological agents in the body. It provides an authentic overview of a wide range of biosensing systems, discussing the elements of different transducers used in sensors and the selective elements that are employed. The style is relatively non-mathematical and informal in approach. The contents of the book will be ideal for graduate and postgraduate students of biotechnology, analytical and physical chemistry. It will also be invaluable to all those concerned with the environmental and biomedical applications of such biosensing systems. About The Author:- Raj Mohan Joshi, a renowned lecturer of biotechnology, has had a brilliant academic record. This book has been written with the clear purpose of presenting forth a forum wherein the discussion goes behind the hype generated by nanotechnology, and explores the darker side of this science. The above mentioned factors make it highly crucial that nanotechnology prepare itself to not just revolutionise technology, but also brace itself against the challenges presented by them, to seek opportunities to work upon them, and keep them at bay. Through incisive, critical studies, the book examines in an in-depth manner the problems faced by nanotechnology, and how it may equip themselves against them. The emphasis on what reports and studies which have predicted such grim outcomes of a full-scale advent of this science, and what they foretell for the future. The tone of the book is highly inquisitive and searching, and it is hoped that this serves well for the readers interested in knowing more about nanotechnology. About The Author:- B.K. Parthasarathy , a well-known teacher and researcher of physics, received his Ph.D quantum physics from England in 1982. He has a strong research background in nanoscience and technology. His areas of special interest include quantum electronic devices, semiconductor devices and materials, molecular-beam epitaxy and semiconductor processing. His research findings have appeared in several journal articles and in the proceedings of international conferences. Dr. Parthasarathy is a honorary member in the advisory bodies of many professional science magazines, and is an active communicator in the media, and at public, education, industry and science forums. He has recognized the importance of initiating nanotechnology and the need to steer their global impact on social, economic, and ethical issues. He has organised a number of seminars of nanotechnology, linking science, governments, industry, investors, international collaborators and civic groups, across the country.
