At this time motion pictures were known as 'photoplays'. Sometimes illustrated they reprinted novels after the films were released.This genre of photoplay editions reached their height in the 1920s and 30s.'The Singing Fool' by Hubert Dail a tie-in with the 1928 musical drama part-talkie. Illustrated with eight plates stills from the film.'Liberty!' by Lucien Allina a tie-in with the 1931 French film 'A Nous la Liberte' by Rene Clair.'Paradise' by Cosmo Hamilton a tie-in with the 1926 silent escapist-romance film.'The Glad Eye' by C. Ranger Gull a tie-in with the 1927 silent comedy film.Undated dated from the dates that the films were released. In the original publisher's cloth binding in the original unclipped dustwrappers. Externally generally smart with some marks to the boards and spines marks a little heavier to 'The Singing Fool'. Light bumping to the spines and extremities. Closed tear to the front endpaper of 'Liberty'. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste downs of 'Paradise' and 'The Glad Eye'. Dustwrappers are edge worn with chips and closed tears heavier to 'Liberty' and 'The Glad Eye'. Some light marks and discolouration to the wraps including to the reverse. Light spots to the wraps.
