The books looks "very good" but some splitting at the top of the spine and the inner hinges are cracking although the book is tight. Lacks plates 22 & 23 but with an extra plates #28 & 29. I understand this is common problem with this book if we can use the term for such an uncommon book as these were evidently assembled by hand and mistakes were made. Volumes for 1934-1961 bound in original cloth the remainder in attractive half dark-green morocco. Most volumes have the original wrappers bound in but excluding the first few years. Dozens of colour plates of exotic birds many of which commissioned specialy for Foreign Birds and by well-known artists including Neville Cayley R. A. Vowles Lawrence and Heinzel but it is Vowells who has made the greatest contribution many of his plates outstanding. Generally in very good condition some of the earlier cloth bindings are slightly worn but remain strong contents clean and tight no inscriptions. An impressive and attractively bound run of this important avicultural magazine only missing the 1933 issues: runs as comprehensive as this are rarely offered.
