Complete. The binding has loss to one corner and loss of some surface cloth to the spine. loss to the corners of the front cover illustration. Some darkening to the illustration. Inside the 32 hand coloured sheets are in very good condition. There is a little darkening to the title sheet and slight handling to the edges of the sheets but overall in very nice shape. A couple of the sheets have a small Viennese bookshop stamp to the verso. Caricatures of life in Paris during the siege of Paris in 1870/71. 340 by 255mm 13½ by 10 inches. . Première édition. This first edition set has had its bindings carefully repaired and re-sewn using the original boards and spine strips to present a very appealing used appearance with the strength of a fully rebound set. Internally there is some foxing early and late in each volume but otherwise only very occasionally with stock lightly toned and generally clean and bright. Half titles and titles present in each volume. No inscriptions. New endpapers.
