Report of Gallipoli Campaign of General Sir Ian Standish Monteith Hamilton GCB, GCMG, DSO, TD was a senior officer in the British Army, who is most notable for commanding the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force during the Gallipoli Campaign.

È la premiazione dei 200 metri, i due uomini sono Tommie Smith e John Carlos. Sul secondo gradino, anche lui con una spilla del Progetto olimpico per i diritti umani, c'è l'australiano Peter Norman. Una foto, tra le più celebri del Novecento, immortala quel gesto di protesta inatteso. «Mostrano sempre l'immagine. Ma non raccontano mai la storia» ricorderà un giorno Carlos. Perché da allora i nomi e i corpi dei tre protagonisti saranno sospinti «nelle sabbie mobili dell'oblio». Squalificati a vita dalle Olimpiadi, rimarranno soli a fronteggiare le minacce di morte e l'ostracismo dell'establishment. A mezzo secolo di distanza, Lorenzo Iervolino si incarica di ricostruire quella storia, di riempire quel vuoto. Muovendosi tra finzione letteraria e un attento lavoro di ricerca, "Trentacinque secondi ancora" ripercorre la battaglia di Smith e Carlos dall'infanzia, segnata dalla segregazione razziale, fino alla gara della vita, per approdare al tardivo riscatto civile, politico e sportivo. Una battaglia che si salda alle inquietudini dell'America del secondo dopoguerra: i linciaggi e gli scioperi, Malcolm X e Martin Luther King, l'ascesa delle Black Panthers e l'attivismo del professor Harry Edwards, l'ispiratore della protesta. Che ci rammenta, ancora oggi, come una «vittoria finale» non sia possibile. Ogni generazione dovrà raccogliere il testimone lasciato da quei corridori.

La vita di Dino Campana è dentro il divenire della sua poesia. La sceneggiatura si sviluppa sulle sue parole, che, attraverso suono e immagini, inscenano visioni, agganciate a realtà trasfigurate nella sublimazione dell’umano. Le finestre interpretative percorrono alcune prose poetiche e poesie di Campana, similmente a un controcanto finalizzato a cogliere raffinate sinestesie, trasposizioni artistiche, o ad evocare similitudini letterarie. Il libro è impreziosito da una ouverture di Valerio Meattini, filosofo, poeta ed amico, che, nel suono dei versi di Campana, si congiunge alle tensioni nascenti dal magma di dolore e gioia che il poeta ha sofferto e cantato. L’epistolario fra Isabella Tedesco e Manlio Campana si concluse con la pubblicazione del libro "L’evoluzione della poesia di Dino Campana" (ed. Flaccovio, Palermo 1961), proposta e offerta da Manlio Campana fratello di Dino, una delle prime monografie sull’opera del poeta. In questo carteggio e nel saggio che lo segue Dino Campana emerge nella sua creazione volta alla sublimazione dell’umano. Sublimazione che avvenne “Nel più chiaro giorno”, secondo la poetica di Campana puntualizzata nei suoi appunti: “Parte prima del libro i notturni e il libro finisce nel Più chiaro giorno di Genova e la discussione sull’arte mediterranea” (D. Campana, Taccuinetto faentino, Vallecchi, 1960). L’opera di Campana, prima di apparire con il titolo di Canti Orfici nell’edizione marradese del 1914, cioè quella che egli aveva data a Papini e a Soffici per averne un giudizio e che, da loro smarrita, fu poi ritrovata dopo la morte di Soffici tra le sue carte, recava come titolo Il più lungo giorno. La volontà di Dino di concludere il suo libro “nel più chiaro giorno di Genova” coincide con l’esito catartico del suo viaggio poetico, raggiunto a Genova, in cui aveva trovato il più lungo giorno della sua vita. ill., br. Le due guerre balcaniche del 1912-1913 sono comunemente considerate i prodromi della prima guerra mondiale. Bulgaria, Serbia, Grecia e Montenegro, coalizzate, affrontarono e vinsero nel 1912 l'impero ottomano in Tracia, in Macedonia, negli attuali Kosovo e Albania; i contrasti nella spartizione delle terre macedoni accesero nel 1913 un secondo conflitto, questa volta tra la Bulgaria e i suoi ex alleati. L'intera crisi fu accompagnata dal braccio di ferro diplomatico fra l'Austria-Ungheria e la Russia imperiale, moltiplicando le rivalità fra le grandi potenze e accelerando la militarizzazione europea. Il volume ritrae il contesto dei Balcani tra il 1878 e il 1912 e il complesso scenario entro cui maturarono i due conflitti. Le guerre sono descritte nel loro aspetto strategico, nei risvolti diplomatici come pure nell'impatto drammatico che ebbero sulla popolazione civile, in particolare sui musulmani della Turchia europea. Un'esperienza che ebbe durature conseguenze sulle relazioni politiche e culturali tra gli stati balcanici e i cui segni e ricordi non cessano di pesare sui processi d'integrazione europea della regione.
