Most of the letters are typed on Cowles’ personal stationery SIGNED ‘Devotedly Fleur’ and provide a glimpse of the relationship of the two close friends in 1955 the Darts’ hosted Cowles’ and Tom Meyer's wedding at their Los Angeles home; the only other guest was best man Cary Grant. Also included are two carbon copies of letters from Jane to Fleur.<br /> <br /> The letters several 2 & 3 pages mostly revolve around Cowles’ paintings regarding upcoming solo exhibitions at the Seattle Museum of Art and later at Nieman-Marcus in Dallas but include copious ‘gossip of the day.’ Names dropped include Jimmy and Gloria Stewart Thelma Breech Frances and Edgar Bergen Thomas E. Stephen Edred Flowers born 1953 also known by the pen-name Edred Thorsson is an American Runologist and proponent of occultism and Germanic mysticism. Siegfried Adolf Kummer born 24 September 1899 in Radeberg died 1977 in Dresden was a German mystic and Germanic revivalist. He is also most well known for his revivalism and use of the Armanen runes row. He along with Friedrich Bernhard Marby were imprisoned during the Third Reich for being unauthorised occultists. In 1927 Kummer founded a "runic school" called Runa associated with the summer school Bielatal Bärenstein of Georg and Alfred Richter. The runic exercises comparable to the "runic gymnastics" of Marby runic dancing and runic songs were taught. Still a little dodgy ethics. Scarce copy. Tight bright and unmarred.
