Il commissario Laparelli era stato inquisito per aver per ben 2 volte abusato del potere e aver usato metodi brutali. La prima volta aveva rinchiuso in carcere il padre del marito di una coppia che, dopo numerosi litigi e l'intercessione del parroco della cattedrale di Sansepolcro, rifiutava di abbandona-re la casa degli sposi, a Sansepolcro. La seconda per aver fatto prendere a nerbate il "giovane L..., d'anni 17, che molestava spesso con insolenze e risse, la gente del paese..." (p.28).

Thomas Pennant (1726-1798) was probably the foremost 18th century Welsh intellectual. A naturalist, zoologist, and antiquary, he is best known for this 'A Tour in Wales'. In his famous autobiography The Literary Life (1793) he states that he sometimes marvelled at his own industry. His first book was the 1766 folio, British Zoology. This made a financial loss as it had been printed on paper that was too large. Thereafter all his major works appeared in smaller formats, either octavos or quartos. The current view of his contribution to natural history is that its importance lies in the fact that he popularized and promoted its study. His tours and topographic works also display his insistence on detailed research. Among the accounts of tours he published are those of two separate visits to Scotland, a tour from Chester to London, and an account of London itself. His A Tour in Wales (1778-1783) is regarded as being quite outstanding and easily the finest work in a considerable corpus of Welsh tour literature published from ca. 1770 onwards. Pennant also became a collector more as a scholar than as a connoisseur. As a patron he tended to purchase pictures which were directly commissioned from the artist. Prassede Giovannoli, vedova del fu cav.Antonio Giannelli, lasciando erede universale della sua pingue sostanza patrimoniale la propria sorella Giovanna, allora nubile e seco lei convivente, in forza del suo testamento olografo..."(p.7). Tre anni dopo alcuni nipoti della defunta denunciarono Giovanna e il complice p. Gaudenzio, per aver soppresso un secondo testamento che prevedeva lasciti ai nipoti.

Severino e Sossio ricusarono di intervenire nelle tre pubbliche processioni ordinate con l'Editto da mons. il Vicario per implorare dal cielo la felice elezione del s. pontefice; Essere incontrovertibili i privilegi conceduti da varj sommi pontefici a monaci benedettini cassinesi di non essere tenuti e intervenire nelle pubbliche processioni; Non esser stati revocati... dal s.Concilio... i privilegj conceduti a' Monaci della Congregazione...; etc. Il nome dell'Aut. Mid-20th century black blind cloth over marbled boards. = A unique item from the collection of the malacologist ecologist and entomologist Herbert Ant 1931-2010. It is essentially a long list of butterfly genera and species numbered 259-402 with three columns: name male female with occasional price-indications for instance: Valeria Stph. oleagina F. Male 1.20 female 1.50. This is followed by an alphabetical index of 18 pp. These printed strips are derived from the Staudinger Preis Liste palaearktischer Lepidopteren based on Otto Bang-Haas's Catalogus lepidopterorum regionis palaearcticae and published by Staudinger and Bang-Haas in Dresden from 1937 onwards. Additional notes have been made in pencil on the ruled paper giving the impression that the author may have bought - or perhaps sold - the specimens indicated or - more likely - noted their occurrence. Dr. Ant's tiny stamp on the front free endpaper recto and bottom edge. Otherwise very good clean. hardcover
