The printer Peter Hardt was active as a printer in both English and German in York Pa. in the late 1810s and was briefly the owner of the York Recorder 1818-1819. Illustrating the evolution in papermaking at this time in printing this book he was using paper from multiple sources some signatures printed on laid paper and others on wove. A scarce and interesting example of printing in York Pa. in the early 19th century. In Very Good Condition: boards are very rubbed and slightly soiled; ink marks on title page; creasing to some upper page corners; pages are browning but clean and tight. P. Hardt hardcover

Many photos of pneumatic tube carrier systems and their use in various retail establishments including grocery stores mens clothing drug stores the New York Stock Exchange General Electric Gimbels department store post offices hotels and even the Boston Public Library. Money documents and goods were put into the pneumatic tubes to be delivered elsewhere. Banks still use a version of this technology in their drive-thru windows. Compelling articles include Ephedra Congo Medicine and The Medicine Man; with an early article about "Dr. Seuss" and his early illustrating work for The Standard Oil Company of New Jersey. The story goes something like this: After one of Geisel's cartoons that appeared in Judge Magazine mentioned FLIT a common bug spray at the time Geisel signed on with The Standard Oil Company and produced illustrations from May 31 1928 through 1941 which in turn helped him gain notoriety and landed him assignments with Life Liberty and Vanity Fair. Additionally a full two-page center spread color illustrated of Garbo in 1915 and again in 1933. This publication seems to be the first and last published. Covers chipped rubbed and soiled.
