This monograph was prepared to accompany the exhibition at the Guangzhou Museum of Art from March 10 to May 20, 2005 and then at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum from August 28, 2005 to January 2, 2006. Chao Shao-an (1905- 1998) was one of the important painters in twentieth century China. He was associated with the Lingnan School. Essays by Wang Jian, Zhang Yu, and Ho Fung-lin. Biographical notes. 8vo., Sixth Edition, with title in red and black, text in printed frame throughout; attractively bound in red full morocco, upper board with multiple bline frame border enclosing Rugby School crest in gilt, back with flat bands, second compartment lettered and ruled in gilt, gilt edges, primrose endpapers, expertyly rebacked with old backstrip laid down, a very good, bright, crisp copy. Splendid copy of the great Cambridge anthology of translations, first issued in 1841. Drury's original is revised and augmented by Hodgson. RUGBY SCHOOL BINDINGS ARE SCARCE.

Frank O'Hara was a dynamic leader of the "New York School" of poets, a group that included John Ashbery, Barbara Guest, Kenneth Koch, and James Schuyler and the abstract expressionist painters in New York City during the 1950s and 1960s such as Larry Rivers, Jackson Pollock, and Jasper Johns. He was a poet, writer and art critic, long time front desk person and then curator at the N.Y. Museum of Modern Art.

A fine work, printed on China paper and laid on cardboard, full margins, in perfect condition. Charles Coleman was an English landscape and animal painter, born in Pontefract, Yorkshire, England. He was active primarily in Rome, where he was an important influence on Nino Costa and made a significant contribution to the formation of the School of "Campagna Romana" Painting. From the barren hills of Yorkshire, Charles Coleman arrived in Rome in 1831 and showed himself a passionate painter of the territory surrounding the urbe, publishing in the middle of the century, at the Spithover bookstore, a rich volume with 53 etchings: A series of subiects peculiar to the countryside of Rome and Pontine marshes designed from nature and etched by C. Coleman. The landscapes that Coleman depicts are very similar to the desolate views of his Yorkshire, "windy and inhabited only by heather". In most of the English artist's views, the landscape is presented with vivid contrasts, making Coleman a true master for a generation or two of painters in Rome and beyond. He was contemptuous of academic teaching, believing that observation from nature was the best education for an artist. He exhibited five times at the Royal Academy in London, for the last time in 1869.
