In 1834 he was convinced to take over running the West Chester Academy, which went on to become very popular. In 1840 he opened a boarding school for young men and boys. This school, known as Bolmar's Seminary, became one of the most successful educational institutions in the state, which caused Bolmar to gain fame and students from all over the Western Hemisphere.
