In fine internal condition, very clean and neat. ~ First French edition. Translated from the 4th German edition by A. Kuhn and D. M. Levi. Anton Friedrich von Tröltsch (1829-1890), pioneer of modern otology. Professor of Otology at Würzburg, where renowned otologists Friedrich Bezold (1842-1908) and Abraham Kuhn (1838-1900) were his students. He invented the modern otoscope and devised the first modern mastoid operation which was first performed in England in 1868 by Hinton. Tröltsch was a co-founder of the Archiv für Ohrenheilkunde.

In a very good condition. ~ First edition. Very rare publication which aims to explain catarrhal deafness and some possible means of treatment, mainly the akou-massage. Contemporary inscription inside refers to one part of the text as an extract from British Medical Journal. Both title-page and cover display the Akou-Massage instrument, invented by Miller Reese Hutchison. Exceedingly scarce, no single reference could be found in any data base.

Georg Avellis (1864-1916), rhino-laryngologist until his death, known for "Avellis' syndrome", recurrent paralysis of the soft palate, a term which was coined by Marcel Lermoyez (1858-1929). Previously in the Medizinhistorische Bibliothek der Universität Basel with a stamp to this effect on first free endpaper. At one time belonged to Prof. Harald Feldmann, Münster, with a small ticket to that effect on first paste-down. Very rare.

In fine condition, mint interior. ~ First edition. Rare pioneer work. François Baclesse (1896-1967). Scientist, former student of Marie Curie and Claudius Regaud at the Radium Institute in Paris, one of the pioneers of radiotherapy. The renowned Centre National de Radiothérapie in is named after him.
