As is frequently the case with Fass's small print runs frequently there are difference with an edition; in this instance the portfolio differs from others we've seen and what Cohen describes this with a printed label using DePol's pressmark we have seen others that are stamped in gold using a turtle pressmark designed for the Press by Burton Carnes. Additionally the title leaf is set in upper and lower case italics and is within a border and without a date we have see it set in all capitals without border and is dated 1952—though Cohen suggest the date is actually 1953. Signed by the photographer. 400 copies were printed. All copies were numbered. This is no. 27. Ersin Alok was born in 1937, in Istanbul, Turkey. He graduated from Istanbul University, School of Arts and Letters, Psychology Department, and from Journalism and Commerce Department of The I.I.T.I Academy. (Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences). He founded the Photography Institute of the Mimar Sinan University. Alok, who started his art career as a painter, held his first exhibition in 1953, at the exhibition hall of the School of Languages, History, and Geography of Ankara University. He started his professional career as a photographer in 1967. He won the first prize, with his Absurd in photography, in the 5th Paris Biennial Then first prizes in Rome, Brussels, Sofia, Warsaw, and USA Barkley follow In 1989, World Photography Association gave Alok the right to represent Asia, and held his panoramic triangular exhibition with three other artist Alok, who has realized 199 exhibitions, has also had 41 exhibitions abroad He has formed a sound archive with his studies on sound recording. He also founded the first DIABANK in Turkey with his 6,500,000 dia archive. Alok has 21 published books.

Like His Brother Charles He Was Distinguished As An Athlete As Well As For Scholarship. He Won The Chancellor's Gold Medal For Poetry In 1827 And 1828. He Became Senior Classic And Was Elected A Fellow And Tutor Of Trinity In 1830; Shortly Afterwards He Took Holy Orders. He Went For A Tour In Greece In 1832-1833 And Published Various Works On Its Topography And Archaeology The Most Famous Of Which Is "Wordsworth's" Greece 1839. In 1836 He Became Public Orator At Cambridge And In The Same Year Was Appointed Headmaster Of Harrow A Post He Resigned In 1844. 1814177240Printed for William Daniell by Thomas Davison. 1814. 17 uncoloured aquatint plates mounted on India paper tissue-guards textblock complete but front and rear boards are disbound and only a fragment of the spine remains with the stamp of the library of the University of Pennsylvania on the front paste-down and blind stamped throughout but not affecting the plates. Marbled endpapers all edges gilt slight water stains to some pages edges browned but the plates are clean. 42.5 x 33.5cm. A very good example of Orientalist art. Robert Smirk 1752. Exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1786 became an associate in 1792 and in the same year an academician. Most of his paintings are small.Those for the story of the Hunch-back engraved by Daniell were in his happiest manner. He died in London 1845. Lacking the slipcase. A handsome copy with only light toning to the perimeters of the boards; contents clean. This copy with 4-page prospectus. <br /> <br /> This work was the first book issued by the Gravesend Press that was actually printed using the Graves' press in their stable by Graves and Jacob Hammer. Kredel's charming engraved pressmark of a sleeping pressman graces the final page. Graves writes about this in his Bibliographical Confession the donkey in the window was their family pet Patience. Graves operated the press as a sideline from about 1949 through to the end of his life in 1960 issuing scarcely more than half a dozen books. While less known that some of his contemporaries he took his place amidst a vibrant mid-century printing and illustrating scene—friends with Victor Hammer Carolyn Reading Fritz Kredel John DePol John Fass and others. H. Richard Archer in a history of the Graves and his press published in The Kentucky Review Spring 1987 summarizes Graves's work thus: "All of the books whether pamphlets or bound books reflect the taste and high standards of a true amateur craftsman and as such they certainly qualify as choice examples from one of this generation's most distinguished private presses." Press historian Roderick Cave notes that this was "probably the most successful Gravesend book" p. 263. Two volumes complete no. 34 of 285 octavo size 488 total pp. The essays in this collection were first published in "The London Magazine" and brought Charles Lamb 1775-1834 fame and popularity; his essays have an easy-going and conversational style that appealed to his early readers and they roam through a variety of subjects all down-to-earth and taken from Lamb's actual experiences. This lovely two-volume set printed by The Gregynog Press in Wales comprises Lamb's essays collected under the name "Elia" a kind of pseudonym that refers to Lamb himself.<br/><br/>The essays are illustrated with wood-engraved headpieces by Horace Walter Bray whose attention to minute details and charming figures complements the gentle humour of Lamb's writing; overall a fine edition of one of England's foremost essayists.<br/><br/>___DESCRIPTION: Full grey cloth gilt lettering on the spines bevelled boards fore- and bottom edges rough cut both volumes with black-and-white wood-engraved frontispiece by Horace Walter Bray both volumes with black-and-white wood-engraved headpieces by Bray throughout; octavo size 9.25" by 6.25" pagination: Volume I: i-iv v-vii viii 1-265 266 1 colophon; Volume II: i-iv v-vii viii 1-219 220 1 colophon one of 285 copies this number 34.
