In The Sad-Eyed Lady Harf Zimmermann documents the Berliner Luft- und Badeparadies ("Blub" for short), a once loved bathing and leisure center in the Britz district of Berlin that is today a graffiti-stained ruin. The center opened in 1985 at an impressive cost of 44 million marks and welcomed roughly seven million visitors before its closure in 2005 after a series of hygiene complaints. Zimmerman's focus is the center's slow death, the eerie remnants of pleasure that once was. In his words: "The city has been left behind and the silence is near complete. All the bridges are broken, the windows nailed over or opaque with dirt—everything here appears bewitched". In The Sad-Eyed Lady Harf Zimmermann documenta il Berliner Luft- und Badeparadies ("Blub" in breve), un tempo amato centro balneare e di svago nel quartiere Britz di Berlino che oggi è un rudere ricoperto di graffiti. Il centro ha aperto nel 1985 con un costo impressionante di 44 milioni di marchi e ha accolto circa sette milioni di visitatori prima della sua chiusura nel 2005 dopo una serie di denunce sulle condizioni igieniche. L'obiettivo di Zimmerman è descrivere la morte lenta del centro, i resti inquietanti del piacere che era una volta. Nelle sue parole: "La città è stata abbandonata e il silenzio è quasi totale. Tutti i ponti sono rotti, le finestre inchiodate o opache di sporco: tutto qui sembra stregato".
