This fishing club was formed in 1882 after Joseph Williamson of Lackawaxen bought a 1500-acre tract of land from William Holbert and early members included many New York sportsmen. By the 1920s the club holdings in the northernmost stretch of the Poconos had grown to more than 4500 acres and many members had erected cottages and a golf course and other sporting facilites had been built.
