In FINE condition with original glassine glassine has one long tear in rear but is still present 100%. In addition: this book is INSCRIBED nicely by Leigh and dated is also contains the EXTRA plate laid in and that plate is also signed by Leigh with large tissue guard for the plate. There is also an invitation laid inside from the Gilcrease Institute to attend the dedication and reopening of the Leight studio. Finally there is a purchase receipt from 1983 from Tom Minkler dealer in western art and art books for purchase of this SIGNED LIMITED EDITION. Blunt was an elephant control officer in Tanganyika and spent his lifetime hunting.The book also has a chapter by Blunt on other noted elephant hunters. The first Amer ed. VG to almost near fine in orig. tan cloth with elephant head printed on front cover. The only blemish to an otherwise fine copy are several very small spots on spine. All presubscribed prior to publication. Following the enthusiastic reception and mountains of compliments garnered by the first tribute to Caldwell Frank Read Press did a second book this on the artist's work in general. There are fabulous illustrations of African game his watercolors are world renowned references notes information on his studio a bibliography of notes and references and a zoologist's appraisal of Caldwell's work. There are 44 full page colored plates of Caldwell's work each with a matching page of text. The quality of workmanship and materials has rarely been matched in bookmaking. Clearly this was a long labor of love for the Reeds and they made sure it would be a book that will long be remembered. Another fitting tribute to Caldwell's work. This copy has obviously neither been read nor changed hands often because it is in near fine condition in original red cloth over linin. Substantial additional postage. Frank Read Press unknown
