1883207828New York: The Trustees of the New York and Brooklyn Bridge 1883. Few incidental marks; an excellent pair. Invitation engraved on cream-colored card 9 x 6-1/2 in.; ticket is 6-1/2 x 2-3/4 in. Original invitation issued to Edwin C. Gibson with his name added in ink by a calligrapher. The invitation card includes a fine image of the span then known as the "New York and Brooklyn Bridge" flanked by two crests representing the two cities. The ticket has a small embossed emblem with the initials "NY & BB" within a leaf. Both items were engraved by Tiffany & Co. with their mark at the lower edge of each.
