"Recueil de Stances" does not appear in NUC either though it does locate books by Daniel Rogers 1573-1652 under the pseudonym D.R.B. on similar subjects in English; this may be a later translation into French. NUC does not seem to locate this particular "Ode au Roy". For "Vers Sur la Mort de Louis le Grand" see Brunet V: 1148. An interesting and elusive collection of titles. vpub unknown

Biography of revolutionary black activist George Jackson by his close friend and the editor of Jackson's prison memoir Soledad Brother 1970. Armstrong describes himself as the "guy.that gave Jackson something he wanted more than anything else an existence outside of prison. His book was the closest he ever got to escape.there was something we shared which overrode all our differences. Our mutual desperation made us brothers." First facsimile edition 1 of 200 copies of this scarce reprint of the 1907 Meiji-era original first printed by Yoshikawa Hanschichi. Asai and his close friend the poet Ikebe Toen 1864-1923 conceived and executed tthis set of a Meiji audience by critiquing the tension between the modernizing Japan at the beginning of the 20th Century with traditional Japanese culture and individuals facing off with each other against the Westernization of Japan. These are considered Asai Chu’s best-known printed work and they imitated the popular satirical and comic magazines of the age in Europe. Complete original sets are scarce and Unsodo produced this splendid recreation of the work nicely coloured by Saburo and with extended commentary in Japanese. Lauriat Co. Boston. First edition thus of this finely illustrated edition of the famed short narrative Breton lais of Marie de France believed to have been composed and written in the 12th century. Her work served as precursors for the later Middle English versions of SIr Launfal and Chevrefoil Honeysuckle mentioning King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table. Knowles 1879-1951 worked as a book illustrator with his brother Horace and contributed to Dent’s Everyman’s Library from 1905. Tippett tells in great detail of the severe life of the nineteenth century miner -- long hours of work accidents wage cuts.John becomes active in the union movement and is soon recognized as a leader. He is elected to represent his fellow miners at a union convention and there under the influence of the eloquent older miner John Siney he becomes convinced of the need for a national miners' union.There are a series of strikes in the novel the miners' desperate and pathetic attempts to better their conditions and more basically their groping efforts to attain a life of dignity" BLAKE pp.145-146.
